https://www.reddit.com/r/pihole/comment ... it_itself/

My Pi-hole (on RaspberryPI) freaks out with my work computer and blocks DNS which affects the whole network. Pi Hole is at the router level so there is no option to go per client based.

The solution is:

Quote:
You can, there is a configuration file you can change:

/etc/pihole/pihole-FTL.conf

Add :

RATE_LIMIT=0/0

to disable.

If you don't have that file, you can create it.

My problem is that I have no idea how to create this magical config file that everyone speaks of.

Does anyone here know how to do this? Apparently it requires a certain level of knowledge that the internet just believes you have.

It's been a long, long time since I've done any flavour of Linux work, or BSD................but the whole assumption of knowledge was a constant problem when I did dip my toes into it. Sad to hear that hasn't changed. Good luck Harmy! ;)

I ask my way more nerdy friend and he just laughs and says use SSH and use nano or vi editor.... :zoid:

But that's not what I am asking. I suppose i need basic instruction on Linux config files.

Yeah! Pi Hole latest release includes a GUI setting on the DNS page for changing the Rate Limiting! No more need to figure this out....case closed!

I've created and edited config files in Redhat but my understanding is that isn't often transferrable to other Linux systems.

I dunno at my company if you want to clear a room just ask if anyone knows Linux.
