I swear every station one creates in Pandora leads to a fucking Styx song sooner or later.

Stuck in my head after hearing it on the weekend.

Apple Music looks so redundant.

I saw Leon Bridges play a tiny club in Montreal in May. A 150-person sellout. He's the real deal -- he'll play a way bigger venue next time.

If you like America, then you'll love Dommengang https://dommengang.bandcamp.com/releases

Does anyone here have any experience using Google Play to purchase music?

I only download the odd free song. I don't keep much music on my phone.

I don't either. I'd be downloading it to my desktop(which is an option I believe) and listening to it there and throwing it on my MP3 player.

Not a lot, I think I've purchased only a handful of songs through them. Just keep a couple of playlists mainly.

Saw Jamie xx do a DJ set today and he played this. Reminded me how sad Gil Scott-Heron's final years were, except for this one beautiful swan song record.

Their last record was in 2007, so I don't think any of us were thinking a new one was coming at this point.

I saw them live something like 7 or 8 times. By the end a show of theirs was more 'something to do' than exciting, mostly because they pretty much just sounded like their record live.

Anyway, Left & Leaving is a great winter record.

I think I saw the Weakerthans once, at the Trasheteria(or had it become Vinyl then?) in Guelph. I saw a bunch of great shows in that hole while I was at Guelph, and spent a bunch of Tuesday nights at punk night with trivia night at the attached bar Jimmy Jazz in my first year at school. Made a few return visits with friends after graduating. That venue is now closing to become an eatery of one kind or another.

Columbia House officially bit the dust this week.

How many old CD collections out there have at least a few stinkers because someone had to fulfill the imposed quota of a CH contract?

I remember getting so enraged with them I actually sent them money without ordering any further CDs.

Wait, you didn't just let them not chase you down and reapply for the promo deal a year later? Maybe they were more vigilant in the US than in Canada.

I flipped on them over the phone one time. I tried to cancel my account and they kept sending me crappy movies & CDs, and bills of course. I called and screamed "you fucks should call yourselves mafia house, because there seems to only be one way out: Death!" The lady laughed, and then actually canceled my account. If not for my rant being amusing to her, I'd probably still be getting shitty music I never wanted.
