God help me but hanging out with my father-in-law for a couple extended road trips is getting me sucked into country music a little.

Currently jamming out on both albums from this Alberta native.

And yes, I first took notice of her because she's pretty easy on the eyes.

Another musical realization--unless Peter Gabriel or Geddy Lee are singing it, I actually don't like much prog rock.

I can get down to a good Yes jam now and again.

Y'know I was thinking that right when I posted it--I'm honestly not terribly familiar with a lot of their pre-pop stuff. But I downloaded this playlist last night and I'm figuring out that there's a far finer line between prog and jam bands than I thought...and I HATE jam bands. One song was a Emerson, Lake, and Palmer number that I simply could not get through.

Should also note that I like "In the Court of the Crimson King" but most of KC's other stuff kinda eludes me.

I'll go through periods where his voice has gotten to me and I can't listen to Third Eye Blind, but then I'll go on a kick and get addicted to a different song from the self-titled album because there are so damn many. Right now:

I've loved and lived with the source material: early Rush, Zep etc. These guys do it well, but I can't get over how unoriginal this sounds. Even the singer sounds like he's doing a bad Plant impression. I get that no one is doing this style of rock anymore so they're unique in that regard, but whenever I pop this on I always feel like I'd rather listen to In Through the Out Door an 8 millionth time.

I think that's fair, and they definitely give off a VERY strong Zep vibe, which is ironic because Zep has fallen a bit in my little rock pantheon. I guess maybe this sounds like LZ if they were still around and in their prime, so I suppose that's why it appeals to me. And I've gotten a little worn down by all the synth-laden stuff I've been listening to for a while so this is a refreshing change.

Internet says that if I like GVF, then I might like The Struts. Guess we'll see...

Pressure by Milk & Bone......

This song is just the shit.....might have to go to Montreal just to see these ladies! Well maybe not that far....but if I was in Quebec for Poutine and Laurentides I would go see them!

You ever hit up Frelighsburg right on the border? They have a little venue there where Milk and Bone played recently. They get all the up and coming MTL bands.

Moneen playing a 15th anniversary show of Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now? Easily one of the best live bands I've ever seen.

Didn't even listen to this one, didn't really know it came out.

You in town for January 5th? :D

No, but I might hit up TO in 2019 to see Massive Attack play Mezzanine.

Crazy to think since it doesn't feel like all that long ago, but nostalgia for the music of the 2000s and early 2010s is a real thing these days.

Wolf Parade reunited 2 years ago, Rapture are reuniting this year and Vampire Weekend are finally dropping a new album. I've been going back to their records, along with Cut Copy and other bands like that. Good stuff, it's ageing well.
