I kinda like the new Kanye. I mean, he reunited Clipse and got Kenny G, and did it all on the same track.

An old teammate and buddy of mine from England who set up shop in Boulder, Colorado, releases a best-of music list every year. Here's his take on 2019.

And yes, he disses Weezer.

https://jenksy.tumblr.com/post/189982307605/2019-top-50

Honestly I go through this list and think...wow, I have no idea who about 90% of these guys are. Anyway, worth a quick perusal if you have the time.

The old-timer that I am, I dislike most new music, but Lizzo is simply too much fun to resist.

B.o.B. is probably the right choice. It was the song that got me really into hip hop beyond just as a casual fan.

My personal, vastly uncool faves that only I like?

"Who Told You?" by Roni Size/Reprazent
"Throw Some D's" by Rich Boy
"Whoa is Me" by Dredg
"I Luv U" by Dizzee Rascal
"Mad Dog God Dam" by Elastica
"Dear Sons and Daughters" by Wolf Parade
"Lay Low" by My Morning Jacket
"Weak Become Heroes" the Streets

and the most guilty of guilty pleasures?

Goodness I'm a douche.

Guilty pleasures? :)

Freak of the Week by Marvelous 3. I still love that song. I bought the album just for that song and it's probably the only copy ever sold.

Good by Better Than Ezra. King of New Orleans was good too. Any other fans? I think Good was the song in Camp Nowhere.

Drinkin in LA - The fiancee hates that song. I love it. It rules.

One by Creed - yes, it was a good song.

Leader of Men by Nickelback - yes, it was a good song. Their first and only good single pretty much.

This discussion was 2009. Man.

The other day Sex and Candy by Marcy Playground was on the radio and Anam pointed out how she wanted that album because of that one song and her parents bought it for her(and she would have been 11 or 12 at the time). I remembered buying Hey! Album by Marvelous 4, just because of Freak of the Week. I still love this song.

Not to be morbid or take any of this in jest, but I couldn't help but pull this song out for a listen. It's one of Peter Gabriel's oddest songs, from his debut solo album. It's about an epidemic that took place in the Middle Ages, chorea (not to be confused with cholera), popularly known at the time as St. Vitus' Dance.

I am digging this Daniel Belanger! Where have the Quebecers been hiding him?

Whoa, wasn't expecting to see this! He's a legend in Quebec, a real sonic pioneer who dabbled in electronic and sampling around the same time Radiohead got into the former, but also a clever lyricist.

Of course his amazing Musique Plus launch from 2001 is on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRkRWKXi7FQ

My Morning Jacket...umm...were they just not my thing before? Did I just not listen to them at all? Is it due to my love of The Bright Light Social Hour? E.L. has posted on here a little bit. I'm not sure they got any radio play around here.

Definitely had no radio play, were a Pitchfork buzz band back when OTP started. Saw them at Sasquatch Festival back in the 00s once, were terrific. I think they were a pretty big Bonnaroo act.

Haha I'll bet he is. Nice to see the quirky Quebec weirdos getting some exposure elsewhere.

A favourite of mine, Bright Light Social Hour, is doing a livestream hour-long show on Thursday. Love these guys.

EL what's your thoughts on Ruby Waters?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkBdzMC ... 9I&index=1

I can't define what she does, its like this eclectic mashup of different music elements into something really unique or maybe I'm so old I haven't realized that there are lots out there today similar to her?

Hey, totally missed this!

Yah, Waters is dope. It's pop at heart, but with a bit more tossed in. I'd argue Jessie Reyez is in that pocket too, and also Canadian.
