Edwin IME or Brian IME?

It's Edwin IME but I would go regardless. Interested? :D

My buddy out in Niagara Falls is out.

I Mother Earth is a go with the wife, her Mom is going to have a sleepover with the kids.

I Mother Earth I would see, but I don't give a shit about the bands they've played with(80 bucks to split the show with Finger Eleven? No fucking thanks).

I think she forgot about the Milton show and when I told her that IME played a show here in town I didn't go to, but I want to go to the show an hour away, she got annoyed. "Why wouldn't you want to see them in town??" "I'm not paying double the price to see them play half the time with another band I have absolutely zero desire to see. I'll drive the hour to see them play with a single opener for half the price".

Yeah...f that. Just IME? Would have done that, probably. Tickets to this show came to just over $100 total. Plus Air B&B, for the same price we get away for a night and go to what I'd expect is a way better show.

Milton Centre for the Arts is getting some decent acts. Sloan is playing soon. Matt Good played, we saw Raine Maida and Chantal(we joke that Leila's preschool X-mas concert had a bigger crowd in the same hall). The shows aren't cheap, though.

Tool was pretty amazing.

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/tool/201 ... d4287.html

During 46&2, I turned to Anam and said "Drummer's getting ready, watch".

https://youtu.be/j2in3ptL7cM?t=247

Then at the end she turned to me smiling. Seeing that sequence live is fucking incredible.

Then she fell asleep during a song after the intermission.

New appreciation for the bassist who I haven't really focused on while listening. Good lord. Didn't realize some of the lines in certain songs were the bass.

Oh yeah so this. The show was eventually cancelled and the ticket company refunded the cost of the ticket but not the service charges6/ticket so $12 bucks. I tweeted at them, the venue and IME saying that's fucking bullshit that the fans who bought the tickets are the ones who are eating the service charge costs for a cancellation that they had nothing to do with. On top of the fee I had to eat for the AirBnB cancellation. The total amount was $20 so it's not breaking the bank or anything but it's the fucking point. The fans are getting screwed for no reason. 750 tickets x $6 service charge = $4500 for no show.

A few days later, get a full refund saying that the venue is covering the service charge refund. So I doubled the refund and made a donation to a local food bank because I literally told my wife its about the principle not the amount.

Fucking complain if you think you're getting screwed.

Strongly considering it! It's in April so I have time to reflect.

I just looked at the full schedule. Tons of Canadian dates, and none in Toronto interestingly. Kitchener the closest one to here.

How's Quebec City in April? When do you recommend visiting?

They'll still have snow on the ground, but it should be pretty wet. Forecasts are predicting a late winter in the whole province.

Quebec City is awesome in July during their Festival Ete de Quebec. They get some pretty huge bands every year. Winter is nice too, but it snows A LOT.

Thanks! Have you been for the Winter Carnival?

I know nothing about it so do you know why they'd play in Sherbrooke?

Never been for Carnival. I know they've had rough times lately: waning interest, tough times modernizing. I'm sure it's nice, though. I have a weird relationship with Quebec. It's really beautiful and a place every Canadian should visit, but I've also had weird times there: too much snow, creepy old hotels, tourist grab restos etc.

I love Sherbrooke. If ever I get tired of the grind in Montreal, I'll move to the townships. Perfectly bilingual without the strife, college atmosphere.

Interesting, thanks.

I've been trying to convince Anam to take more getaways with just the two of us and she's definitely into the idea now. We probably won't be heading to the US anytime soon so its options here which will require long drive/train times to go places we haven't been already. Quebec City and Montreal are definitely spots I would like to go, so I'm just looking at trains out heading there around that weekend Jimmy tour. No idea if we'd be able to go but it'd probably be the Saturday QC date.

Gaspe is apparently incredible but is way out there.
