You guys would get a kick out of the commercials in this area for the casino in Niagara Falls(Hounsy's stomping grounds). Every one basically translates to "Come and see this person in concert, who used to play in a band that used to be relevant and have some hits you'd recognize!".

The most recent one was for Don Felder, not Don Henley, formerly of the Eagles, who also sued the Eagles.

Volbeat was best of show.........Avenged Sevenfold was ok (they definitely miss Rev) and Metallica was just good......first time that's ever happened.
Tickets were super expensive and it wasn't sold out. We did somehow get upgraded to Club Level so that was nice. The lightning/thunder storm delayed their set for over an hour after only 5 songs. Then Metallica really missed a moment to re-engage the crowd. They teased the crowd with Ride The Lightning and then just STOPPED....and played some f'n new song that no one has ever heard IMO just so they could stand there and bang on drums as a group for 5 minutes. They lost me after that but I did enjoy the rest of it. Unfortunately it was past my bedtime and I never really reengaged fully.

I knew I was old when I was rocking out to Motorbreath and the young people were just standing there.......

I left before Enter Sandman....because I just can't listen to that. Could have done without Wherever I may roam and Sad but True.....but the Black album fans love that shit. No Metal up your ass fan wants to hear anything off of Load or Reload. Getting to hear Creeping Death live one more time was enough for me.

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/metallica ... 7726c.html

Who knows why they didn't perform all of Ride The Lightning......super missed opportunity. Kind of like Satan to the Devils. At least the Ducks got it right.

I can't justify the ticket prices any longer unless they specifically tour with a catalog from their first 3 (or AJFA). Maiden figured out how to do that....time for Metallica to do the same.

I had kind of the opposite of that happen at a show I went to a few years back. The band started to play the guitar intro to a non-hit, a song I love. I was pumped that they'd play it live, but they just used it to lead into a hit song. I really wished they had played the rest of the song.

Not sure why bands do that. I had thought maybe its because they rehearse a particular set list....but they did play Ride The Lightning in Mexico a few months back. Tea Party did that exact thing you describe when I was just at their show in LA. Jeff Martin does what he wants and so does Metallica it seems. But how could you miss that? Lightning in the background and all over the place.........and you just stop after the intro for some obscure song with hippy drumming. I even tweeted at those f'n guys during the stoppage.

 Recent show or prior to this visit?

Curious, how was it? I find those Casino Niagara commercials pretty funny. Not even the whole band. One of the guys from the band.

Oh it was a few years back, free tickets not even an Eagles fan.

That said it was pretty good he had some top notch musicians working with him so it sounded great.

Anyone want to come to Buffalo for U2?

I'm only half kidding. I have 2 extra tickets I can't get rid of. :(

Hope you find a taker, Patty. Not a U2 fan but no doubt they put on an epic show.

Speaking of which, I was out of town and missed it, but Guns N Roses played Montreal and apparently Axl and Slash were at the top of their games. I know a few people who went and they're still gushing about it. 3 1/2 hours, all the hits.

Hopefully going to Huey Lewis & The News on Wednesday. This ought to be hilarious. From what I've heard his name should be Hugey Lewis. Biggest cock in rock. I'm gonna try to make the news.

Hey Robin, Huey Lewis and his huge prick are playing at the PNE Amphitheatre next week if you're still interested. Also Reverend Horton Heat at the Commodore on Sept 7.

Arcade Fire absolutely killed it in their hometown last night. Very cool arena show and a perfect setlist.

Went to Janet Jackson tonight. Fun show. I scored a ticket for $20. It was more than worth it.

Wifey isn't terribly religious but she LOVES Christian pop/rock, and I'm going with her to listen to the Rend Collective. Haven't really sat down to listen to them so it should be an interesting experience.

These concerts are interesting.......its probably the only time I've been to Red Rocks and not been inundated with weed haze. They sell beer but you might feel bad for drinking one....I did not. I believe I tried to count how many times people were raising up their hands trying to bring down lightning!

Yeah, an eclectic crowd to be sure. I've been to a few Christian concerts now and they always flash the words on the screen so people can sing along. Gotta admit these guys were crazy-ass talented. They kept switching instruments, oftentimes mid-song, and literally didn't miss a beat. Christian music ain't exactly my cup of tea but it's nice to see and hear musicians you otherwise wouldn't hear of outside of mainstream circles.

My Daughter asked if we could go see New Order next week. Turns out one of her favorite bands at 14 was my favorite band at 14, weird I never pushed it she found the old CD's herself.

So going to see New Order(minus Peter Hook so not really New Order) next week.

Massive Attack are going on tour and playing all of Mezzanine. I'm so stoked.

Seeing Bright Light Social Hour in Toronto May 9th, then seeing Santana on the lawns with some friends in the summer. We usually see a show every summer like that, James Taylor and Blue Rodeo previously. Anam's going to see Bush and Live at Burlington Sound of Music Festival in the summer.
