Nicklebrook is the best current stout maker that I have tried in Canada and are right there with Founders and New Holland IMO. Café d Bastard and Kentucky Bastard's this past year where awesome.

I had expensive ones explode on me, leaving me with like a 3rd of the bottle.

But given that nobody is selling stouts during the summer but they have a bunch, I think I'm going to put in an order.

As long as it wasn't a stout blowing up you aren't missing anything. As much as I praise their Stouts their other beers I had have been often bad and at best okay.

Wasn't too happy about missing 2/3 of a $15 Cuvee I cellared for 2 years, but I guess it's true I wasn't missing much

Ordered 4 Cheeky Bastard, 2 Cafe Del Bastardo, 2 Winey Bastard, 2 Kentucky Bastard and 4 of the Pineapple Uber(figured why not).

Wine barrels and beer should NEVER be put together...NEVER.

Cheeky Bastard is nothing to right home about. Don't do sours so have not tried that one. The other two are world class beers though.

Any idea what happened to the Bolshevik Bastard?

I'm generally not a fan of sours but like IPAs, I've found a couple that I like. I buy some of the ones I think I'd like from the local guys Orange Snail. We'll see about these.

What wine barreled beers have you had that you didn't like? I thought a strong/imperial stout in a red wine barrel could be good, hence buying the Winey Bastard.

The Winey Bastard didn't explode on me!

It was good, I liked it. But the aftertaste definitely makes it taste like you'd just drank a bunch of red wine.

The Tom Green Summer Stout is back at Beau's! Min $50 for free delivery across Ontario. Grabbed a bunch for my Dad, brother-in-law and myself, along with a 2 of their Wag The Wolf white IPA, 2 Halcyon Barrel House - Dark Designs, and a Dark Czech Pilsner.

Yes, he's the mascot of one of Canada's best beers, The Tom Green Milk Stout from Beau's Brewery. There are other variations too, including the excellent summer stout and cherry milk stout.

I actually saw him do standup at Beau's Oktoberfest.

Hopefully the beer is better than his comedy. I never cared much for his MTV show.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the regular Tom Green Milk Stout is available anymore(whether that's at all or seasonal, not sure) :( It's listed under past releases and not in the currently available.

Bring back these two:
https://beaus.ca/beer/dark-helmut/
https://beaus.ca/beer/collabrrrewnaut/

Really, really not a fan of ALL THE SOURS AND IPAS.

I love the Halcyon Sours, but they're expensive. Can't get too wild with them unless you want to go broke.

Yeah, I'm not willing to spend that much on single sour. $15 each on 2 of their their Dark Designs imperial stout? Yes.

Nice...E.L. and I were both drinking it last night too. For all the smoking and bbqing I've done this summer, yesterday was the first BBQing beer I drank and it was after removing two tree stumps.

Get back on Untappd, you two!

I mean it "got me" even drank it at room temperature as I expected a stout.
