We have a severe tornado watch in effect here in Ottawa right now (I'm writing this outside where it's windy, but nothing apocalyptic).

I consider that worthy of this thread.

There was one briefly in the GTA yesterday, too.

Ah, to be 31 and in love in San Francisco. Wait a second...

http://blog.sfgate.com/crime/2013/07/19 ... -squabble/

Too classic. Met in a hackeysack circle. Engaged two weeks later. Breakup forces guy to sleep in a tree. Gets in a fight with the new man, an ex-Marine. for sleeping in his own yard. Crazy ex gets neighbour involved, gets bear sprayed. Ends up charged with seven felonies. Gets laughed at by millions on the internet, but is acquitted.

I like the fact that the girl grabbed a knife and the Marine grabbed a frying pan.

For 6 months, the Indian Army(a couple of people in it I guess) tracks what they think are spy drones from China violating the Line of Actual Control (LAC) that India shares with China.

Those spy drones are the planets Jupiter and Venus.

This is something that's probably been published in the Onion before.

Looks like Israel mistook a constellation for war planes:

Apparently the moon led the US into thinking that a missile attack was coming:

Putin scores 11 points. Pretty good hands for someone with skating skills of a 4 year old and how scared were the dmen of trying to stop him. :psyduck:

Not really news, since it ain't new, but it's new to me. The Dutch are just plain old better than us.

Quote:
The slide -- officially called a "transfer accelerator" -- is part of an overall renovation of the aging Overvecht Station in Utrecht, and the brainchild of the local design firm HIK Ontwerpers. According to the U.K. commuter paper Metro:

The designers explained the slide is a gift to the rail commuters and hope it will create a playful urban area that could generate positive energy in a disadvantaged neighborhood.

I'm quite happy with my current easy bike ride commute, but I'd totally dig going down a slide every day if I had the chance.

This could be exciting stuff if they work out the kinks. Thing is, in quantum physics, "kinks" are pretty big.

I hate it when articles throw nonsense statements at me. It makes me wonder if the author actually understands anything else they've written. Space is a vacuum, it has no temperature. However an object in deep space can have temperature, and in the deepest of space it could be as low as 2.7 degrees Kalvin. What does 150 times colder than 2.7 degrees Kalvin actually mean?

Not to be a dick, but isn't it Kelvin? Or is that another American vs Canadian spelling thing?

You're not dick, well at least this time you are not. And you are correct, it is Kelvin, named after some scientist I'm sure.
