I was planning on boycotting the Rocket as long as Sly remained coach, but if you ever have an extra day in the Laval/Montreal area I'd be down to swing by and root for Scherbak.

We always stay in town the night before the game. So... we get a night out on Hallowe'en in Montreal for our Nov 1 game... yeah, that can't be good

I wonder if they'll have you stay in Laval or Montreal. The new arena is accessible by Metro, so in theory they could put you anywhere. There are big chain hotels up the road.

A week ago I was looking for Airbnb's in New England. Fast Forward a week and I've booked a week in Stockholm mid-August, including a reservation at a Michelin-star restaurant. (Never been to one before.)

Funny how internet deal hunting escalates things.

Spending a few days decompressing before the holidays in Upstate New York. Checking out Cooperstown, finally, along with a few acclaimed farm-to-table restaurants.

Council Rock Brewery in Cooperstown is good. Small place with down-home atmosphere, but good food.

I'll check it. Ommegang is the big dog there but I can't say I've loved the ones I've tried.

My mom is from there and I went as a kid, but other than the big obvious tourist spots I don't know much. Pujol is supposed to be one of the greatest restaurants in the world, and Xochimilco river boats is not to be missed weather permitting.

Heh, you used to say that the French Quebecois thought you were Mexican, didn't you? I didn't realize that your Mom was actually from there.

If you hit the jackpot for a million or so, you could go to a Knights game!

It was pretty awesome. Lots of fun. Still can't surf.

Was invited to a VIP party for the arts festival at a polo club. Never been to a polo club before. Apart from a few friends that I was there with I don't really know anyone. I found myself separated at one point and a server asked me what I'd like to drink. I say water(as I don't drink). He asks what size. I point to a glass on a table and say "that size." He comes back with a huge margarita. I'm standing there alone and I'm just happy to have something to occupy my hands as the entire place has gone quiet for an intro speech. At some point the MC, who's the drummer for Los Gatos Negros(Mexican punk band) makes some reference to punk rock, points at men and says something about my Vibrators t-shirt. The entire place looks over at me with my giant margarita(which I'm holding with both hands) and I realize that I'm the only person who's standing up. You know, it's pretty amazing how sometimes when you're trying really hard to find people that you know you can't, until you look really guilty of doing something you're not supposed to, and then they stand right out. They're looking at me with bug eyes and I'm looking at them with "this isn't what it looks like, I can explain" eyes. I start to sit down, but the nearest chair is like ten away, so I do a half crouch crab walk while still holding the drink with both hands and sit down on the chair, which is pointing towards the back of the room instead of the front. Boy do I look stupid. Turns out it works in my favour in the end. People are amused.

Fun times.
