Gas, Cable/Internet, and Insurance. What is the fucking point of putting online order forms, or telling me to send an email, if you're just going to fucking ignore it?

Upgrade to the Challenger II if you can afford it. The Range Rover just doesn't compare:

Am I right to assume that all of the CD Plus locations wherever you guys are living are closing down? There seems to be no official going out of business announcement, but it seems like every location I know about is closing and having a 40% sell-off of inventory, or at least the CD's.

I spent a decent amount of money at those stores from 1999-2005, but virtually none since buying a laptop in 2006. It's been a LONG time since I flipped through a bunch of CD's at a store, to be quite honest. Used to do that pretty much weekly.

My roommate was a manager at CD Plus for a couple of years, and as a result I got into some Junos After Parties, which was pretty kick ass. But there was no money in the industry then, and I was quite surprised and how much expenditure they'd put into things because I honestly couldn't see how they could make money other than the fact that the paid pretty much everyone just a shade above minimum wage, if that.

You're not going to find many people on this board who have heard of CD Plus -- I had to look it up. The only one in BC is in Fort St. freakin' John, the ones in Ontario aren't in the Toronto or Ottawa areas, and there are none in Quebec.

This should come as no surprise to anyone, but I needed cheap PC speakers to temporarily replace my older blown out speakers so I spent 40 bucks on the Best Buy Chinese-made brand Insignia, for a 2.1 speaker set with subwoofer.

Somehow, they actually sound worse than the blown out ones.

All's well that ends well.

EL: "I'd like to return these speakers."

Cute Asian girl at return desk: "When did you purchase them?"

"Why are you returning them?"

"They're utter shit."

"Are they broken or just...shit?"

"I don't really care, I'll take my money back."

"Can I have your name and phone number?"

"Is this for the return?"

"Yes."

"Are you going to take my number down and call me later for a drink?"

"Yes."

Buddy of mine bought a new sound system a few weeks back and spent more on speakers alone than I have ever spent on a car.

You buy a BBQ, you figure that the hardware they give you would fit. Thanks Sterling.

So I've been an eCost.com Platinum member for a few years, basically from back when Cali recommended them. At the time, the membership was a good thing but in the last couple of years, Amazon has a wider range of products, most of which are new and not refurbed so I decided not to extend my membership this time last year. And as an Amazon Prime member, I get free shipping and access to their streaming video content... Unfortunately, eCost had already charged by card when I decided to cancel it in August, so I said fair enough but I won't be renewing in July 2012. And sure enough, in the last 12 months, there's been no activity on my part on their site.

I see that they automatically charged by $39.95 for another year of platinum membership two weeks ago when I never authorized or ordered it to be renewed. According to my profile in there, they aren't even supposed to have my credit card info - they must have used a card number from two years ago... I just got off the phone with one of the rudest customer service reps (Ron, ext. 343E3) who assured me it would be credited to my account in 2-3 business days. We shall see.

I just got a phishing e-mail, claiming to be from both 'Verified by Visa' and 'MasterCard SecureCode' (how the hell would that work?!), and the originating e-mail address is "Visa / Mastercard support <[email protected]>".

Guys, it's like you're not even trying anymore.

This is ridiculous. It's cheaper to fly to the US from Australia, buy Abode Creative Suite or Visual Studio Ultimate and fly home than it is to buy it in Australia. Almost a $6000 fucking difference for Visual Studio Ultimate

Hey Alaska Airlines stop being such monopolistic douchebags! $825 dollars to fly into Sitka in November? C'mon! I can get to Paris for that money.

Among my many home improvement skills, plumbing does not reside. Been renovating a bathroom and did a very nice job on floor, walls, ceiling, painting, molding, etc. Put in a new vanity/sink & toilet. Sink faucet- put the handles on the wrong side (seem to be marked incorrectly) and when I went to pull the hoses off, broke a little pos plastic clip. Delta is sending a whole new hose assembly, no charge.

Putting in the new toilet- tried to follow directions & tighten tank down until it met the bowl part. BOOM. Whole tank shattered. American Standard has yet to return my call after 2 days. Not happy with you AS. Delta's looking good...

Verizon wants to charge websites to have their subscribers be able access to those websites:

I'm testing out the Logitech Z623 speakers for my PC. Even for the low price, meh.

Low-end is amazing. Great bass, giant sub.
Picks apart individual sounds well too, good with frequency. Maybe too good: my ears can't take the onslaught for too long.
But the treble is total shit, no power, and it makes some sounds really pitchy and screechy when you play them louder.

I'll hang on to them, just because I don't feel like buying anything really expensive right now.
