Only 62. Lots of questions surrounding the future of the franchise. Does his estate want the team? Anyone else? Who can get a new barn built?

Sounds like he might have a daughter or something at queens? I thought I heard some speculation amongst the talking heads about a daughter or a niece or somebody at Queen studying business who might take an interest...

Wow, what a shocker. Apparently he'd been sick for a while.

I have to say, problematic as he was, dude obviously cared about the team, right down to the crazy-ass video he made with Borocop that one year. And I'd take a guy like him over a guy like Pegula 10 times out of 10.

Les Senateurs de Quebec? Bill Daly confirms a La Presse report that the Sens are looking to play five regular season games at Centre Videotron in beautiful Quebec City next season.

Might be a bit grotesque to say, but I think the Sens now stand a better chance to get that downtown Ottawa arena now that Eugene isn't around. He had a real knack for sabotaging those talks, whether it was his overly-litigious nature, or his ability to make a continual string of PR gaffes.

I guess it depends on what his estate decides to do.

Another round of insane stories about Eugene out in the Athletic. The guy basically loved you one second and hated you the next.

Raised a young Ukrainian computer programmer, only to try to get him arrested after accusing him of stealing money, and then in the final weeks of his life paid to have the guy taken out of the Ukraine to safety. Tons of stories like that, where he's both generous and horrible at the same time.

According to Bettman, Melnyk handed the team down to his ~20-year-old daughters Anna and Olivia, and that's that.

Youngest owners in the league by a longshot. For how long? We'll see...

This sounds like the plot for a bad Canadian Tee Vee show.

I wonder how many other teams are lining up to make trade offers of cute prospects.

It looks like the Sens will get their long-awaited arena at LeBreton Flats downtown after all. Wonder what made everyone change their minds?

If by giggity you mean an irascible owner biting the dust, then yes. :quag:
