What a boring game. At least Karlsson played over 30 minutes and was entertaining.

The whole thing was a disaster from the get-go. Melnyk threatened to move the team right before the weekend, then Don Cherry reiterated in during the broadcast.

Oh, then there's this: http://screengrabber.deadspin.com/ottaw ... ssion=true

The Habs were, of course, a flaming trash pile. There's no way a sane GM looked at that roster and thought "this is enough."

Between this and the Buffalo Winter Classic the league will probably just conclude that the Blackhawks must play in all outdoor games until 2050.

Have to say, aside from the novelty of an outdoor game has the actual hockey been all that good? Feels like it’s considerably slower and more difficult to watch.

Blackhawks and Rangers for the Winter Asslick every year. It'll have the "Original 6" crowd wetting themselves with excitement annually.

I like the nostalgia and the old tyme hockey feeling, to a point. But the huge deal that gets made totally ruins that old tyme feel. And yes, the hockey is usually bad. The focus is usually on the weather- it's either too warm for decent ice, or so cold the players are totally bundled up and don't seem able to play as well. There's a reason hockey moved indoors decades ago! Our local rink built an outdoor rink a few years ago. Everyone loved playing on it at first. Now they're putting a roof on it to keep rain & snow off, plus twigs, leaves, bird shit, etc. I joked that these crazy things called "walls" will be next and the rink manager agreed with me, since they have like 1% of the problems with the ice inside as they do outside. And far less cancellations, complaints, injuries, etc.

The best one by far, conditions-wise, was the one at Dodger Stadium. January LA weather made it easy to control the temperature at ice-level.

The Detroit 6 Hawks 4 one at Wrigley was actually good, entertaining hockey as far as I remember. One of the earliest ones.

Datsyuk with one of the most memorable goals, too.

Totally missed this game. Lost track of all these outdoor games a few years back.

Looks like life isn’t half as bad as Eugene really wants to make it out to be. Even with all the operational losses his shares of the team have a $300M USD capital gain embedded in them. As you may know – capital gains are taxable at preferred rates in Canada and I know a little fancy footwork that can get the tax on a sale of this nature, very, very low. So assuming Eugene has good tax advisors he can expect after tax proceeds on a sale to be as follows: (Click on image to expand)

I’m not going to cry too much over his potential $266M payday. Yea yea, with legal fees and such it will be lower – but the pills are wearing off and my jaw is starting to ache so I’m not going to adjust for those.

Long story short for those that got bored (again) – Eugene’s return on his investment in the team – even after all his operational losses (I weep for him) will be somewhere in the area of 322% (i.e. 23% per year). Yea, you shouldn’t feel bad for him either. (Click on image to expand)

Boo-fucking-hoo. So this fuckstick is saying that the team can't afford to meet payroll? Here's an idea...sell some of your investments and sink some of your own fucking money into the team, rather than taking on high-interest loans, because you'll still make out like a bandit when it's sold.
