Not a terrible-looking lineup, so long as nothing goes wonky at Stepan's arbitration hearing.

Kinda funny they still have the guy the fancy stats crowd has deemed the worst player in the NHL in Tanner Glass.

they tend to do that on the Rangers for some reason. Ryan Hollweg was similarly horrid in every facet.

Signed Stoll to a 1 year, $800,000 contract. Because NYC is a good place for a guy shortly after some drug infractions.

Stoll's lucky Bachelors III isn't open anymore.

That's terrible punnage, even by my standards.

Better and more current than "For whom the bell Stolls," which is the line we were all thinking of using.

Rangers are putting Yandle up for grabs.

The deal that sent him to NY for Duclair is looking really bad right now.

4 Rangers RFAs filed for arbitration. :D Kreider, Hayes, McIlrath and JT Miller.

They've got $12 million in cap space, and even with 3 of those guys being forwards, they've only got 12 forwards. No depth on the roster. I'd think the 3 forwards they have there will get like 2-3 million each, and McIlrath like 1-2 million. Going to be interesting!

Dylan McIlrath filed!? WTF does he think he'll say to sway the arbiter!? He's done exactly nothing in the pros.

He can point at Girardi & say "I'm better than that PoS, and look what they gave him!" Cha-ching!!!

Chris Drury (who is now 40!!!) promoted to assistant GM.

He reportedly played a big part in the Vesey recruitment process.

Always seemed like a smart guy to me. Future GM at the rate he's going.

So far the Rangers have been a very interesting team. They're not getting elite netminding, nor are they getting much production from Rick Nash, but they're winning.

Up front they have as deep a forward corps as you could probably get under the cap. All four of their lines are legit scoring threats in one way or another. Even with Pavel Buchnevich and Chris Kreider out they still have enough forward depth to get by. It's on the back end that things start looking bad. The top pairing right now is Holden-McDonagh, which has worked a lot better than anyone had any right to expect. One stats guy characterized Holden as "only slightly bad" which pretty much sums up how he played in a middle-pairing role for the Avs last season. If you can get "only slightly bad" out of Nick Holden, you take it.

Don't know how long this'll last but the Rangers are at present holding off the rest of their wonky division. If the goaltending improves they might be onto something.

FTR Jimmy Vesey is looking like a really good pickup thus far.

Shocking news: The Rangers are trying to rush young players and it isn't working out.

They're still doing alright. Currently WC1. I thought that rough start would bury them. No such luck. :x

They live and die by the Glove Hand of Lunqvist. I don't think any goalie has done more to bail out his team than King Henrik has for the Rangers. Once he shook off his bad start it's no surprise they got going. While it helps that Rick Nash finally began playing, that's a fairly mediocre team being held aloft by goaltending. Put Henrik in goal for the Isles and you have an automatic Cup Contender, if not favorite. The Rangers are more dependent on their goalie than any other team, including the Habs.

True, and I don't think it's sustainable, but Pavelec has been frigging great too. Bastards. Lundqvist at 0.918 and Pavelec at 0.914. At some point they have to falter, right?

Could we see a partial rebuild coming up in NYR? Shattenkirk hasn't been great since signing and now he's out indefinitely. Nash could be dealt at the deadline.
