Post subject:  Goodbye Leo!
Leo Komarov had been waived a while ago and apparently really didn't want to go to Bridgeport. So he's heading to Russia to play in the KHL. I assume this means the Isles have terminated his contract since he shouldn't have been able to sign with a KHL team if his NHL contract was still valid. If this is true, huge kudos to Lou for getting rid of Ladd and Leo in the same year. Sure, he brought Leo in, and in a way Leo did a good job, but he was grossly misused, and that lead to fans hating him. He never should have been on the first line.

Either way, he's on his way to CSKA now and the Isles may get a little more cap relief from it. Leo is 34, and not retiring. I guess they'll save his waived hit of $1.875 million. If so, that's frigging awesome. They were already going to have around $10 million at the deadline. Maybe this allows them to trade for a decent 2LD sooner.

Now there's only one Finn in the NHL with a Russian-sounding name left. They're a dying breed!

Leo tweeted a nice goodbye letter to Isles fans, Lou, teammates, etc. Said he decided to leave for a chance to play every day. Signed it Uncle Leo. Also said he hopes the Isles win the Cup since they're all such great guys. Isles fans like him more now than when he played for them. :laugh:
