If anyone can do the last to Cup thing from January on like the Blues, it's the Islanders. But it won't be easy.
Well it'll be a bit tougher- 4 game west coast road trip postponed. The Oilers are at UBS today though. So they can play in NY but not in Edmonton a few days later? I can't keep up with the rules. I just hope the Isles can get everyone back and stay healthy the rest of the year and make a good run at the playoffs, which should start in about August at the rate we're going.
For several Canadian teams, the current restrictions on building occupancy (50% max) means a big reduction in gate revenues, plus liquor and food sales. The argument / gamble is, can we postpone these games to a later date when (hopefully) the restrictions will be lifted and the teams can get fill up to 100% capacity and no food/liquor restrictions? Frankly, I don't see the restrictions being lifted here until we get enough booster shots into arms (in B.C., we're upwards of 90% vaccinated with two doses and only a smattering of 3rd doses in people under 60...) which will likely be well into February.
Gotcha. Thanks. Hopefully things don't get even more locked down. And so much for the league saying it's about safety and not money. As if anyone believed that...
Anyway. Isles win in OT for the first time this year! Dobson has been playing great lately and continued that with the OT winner. They even came from behind in the third to tie it up.
Now, no hockey for like 10 days.
