Talks with Lee supposedly stalled over term. Apparently they agreed on a salary, but Lee wants 7-8 years, while Lou is offering 5-6. No word on the salary so far.
Talks with Nelson are supposed to be going well.
No word on Lehner or Eberle, but I can't imagine they'd let either go without talking to them. Not after last summer.

The Yannick Rathgeb experiment is over. He's heading back to Europe.

No word on anything else. Ahhh, the exciting days of the off-season for your team...

The Isles will be active this offseason, whether it's re-signing their UFAs or going after other ones.

If the Isles see the writing on the wall with Lee, Nelson and find themselves in desperate need of star power, how could they not try to offer sheet Marner? A thank you for the Tavares move.

That's what like 90% of Isles fans are saying. I think they'd have to lose 4 1st rounders for Marner, which they have, but losing 4 1sts is fucking huge. It would be a nice FU to the Leafs, Dubas and Tavares, but then when they draft some gem with an Isles 1st, does that FU turn around? I don't know. But it sure would make for entertainment!

Isles have told Eberle that they want him back, and are working on a contract.
For the in-team awards, Lehner says Greiss should win Save of the Year for his pokecheck of Crosby on a breakaway. Two saves/goalie were entered. Fans are writing in Scott Mayfield for his two saves vs the Pens in the playoffs (I forget which game).

Back-diving actual pay. Supposedly $8 million the first year and $4 million the last year, with an even change each year.
And a 2 year full NTC, then 4 years of a modified NTC. No word yet on how many teams he can choose or eliminate. Either way, he and his wife plus their 2 young kids are on Long Island to shop for a house.

Several more UFAs to go...

Interesting deal. Reportedly Lou said no to lockout protection with high signing bonuses and low actual salary, so the agent opted to maximize variance and have it dip the two seasons where there might be a work stoppage.

I love watching people exploit potential loopholes.

Tanner Fritz re-signed for 2 more years, $700k.
Arnaud Durandeau, or however the hell you spell it, signed an ELC. He did so 1 day before the Isles would lose his rights. He was a 6th round pick 2 year ago, but is playing quite well in Juniors.

Lou said he intends to give qualifying offers to all Isles property up for it this year, including Ho-Sang.

Still no word on Lee, Eberle or Lehner signing. Supposedly they're talking to them all...

Dobson will be a top-4 defenceman for the Isles by the end of next season. Book it.

$5.5 million/year, plus a $2 million signing bonus. Eberle said he knew he could get more on the open market, but was looking at free agency as a last resort, since he wanted to come back to the Isles. Look at that, another vet who could make a ton on a thin open market, who chose to return to the Islanders.

Lee and Lehner still up in the air. Kind of funny; Eberle was the one almost everyone was sure would walk. Lee & Lehner have both expressed interest in staying. With Lee it's apparently a gap of 2 years, and supposedly the money they're talking is agreeable to both. Lee is looking at it like this is his one shot at a big contract. It would be pretty weird to make the guy Captain and then tell him to walk over 2 years difference. Hopefully they can find common ground.
No real news on Lehner, other than talks are on-going. I guess Lou was busy with the 2 guys people thought would walk before focusing more on the guys people thought would stay. It would probably benefit Lehner to hold on until after the awards. He's bound to come away with at least 1 of the few he's up for. He's almost a shoe-in for the Masterton. Vezina? Less likely, but certainly not impossible. I may actually watch the awards show for the first time. Ever.

Remaining FAs
UFA F-Lee, Kuhnackl, Filppula. D- Sbisa and Seidenberg (Bye Felisha!). G- Lehner
RFA F- Beauvillier and Dal Colle.

$22 million in cap space as of now. Ladd may get put on LTIR. 12 forwards currently signed. 7 D, and 1 G. So there's plenty of room for signing the rest, or bringing someone else in from outside. Although next year a few big guys are RFAs- Barzal, Pulock and Toews, with only Greiss and Martin being UFAs.

Minors
Ho-Sang is an RFA. A few vets are UFA, but nobody of impact.

That sucks. He would have really helped the Isles the last few years. His passing and vision was great. I hope he is healing well, and can live a "normal" life, even though his last day as a hockey player was years ago, so it won't be "normal" for him. Concussions are scary shit.

Totally unrelated to that, huge congrats to Robin Lehner on the Masterton Award. His speech included the usual thanks, adding in his doctors, and he added in that he is mentally ill, but that doesn't mean he's mentally weak, and said it's time to end the stigma about mental health. Got a standing ovation, and lots of people on Twitter are thanking him for being so public about it, as it has helped them get the help they've needed. That's awesome.
He didn't win the Vezina, but I'm not too surprised. Vas was the true #1 for the President's Trophy team so he had a lot more action. Lehner shared duties with Greiss until the playoffs, which don't count in the voting. Shame they don't do an acceptance speech for the Jennings. I'd like to hear Lehner and Greiss talk together.

Trotz takes the Jack Adams, which I did expect. That skit with hamburgers beforehand- wtf is the NHL doing? Trotz was holding a hamburger on top of the Jack Adams Award with his thumb while thanking everyone. Is that a skit from the host's childhood acting career or some shit? Seemed really juvenile.

Now, on to signing Lehner and Lee, and the Draft. Maybe some trades and/or more signings...

Of note: Trotz brought all the Isles coaches to the Awards show and made it very clear that the Jack Adams is a TEAM award, which I think is great. But one coach was missing- Scott Gomez. Earlier in the day, the team announced they'd hired Jim Hiller, the Leafs former PP coach. No idea if Gomez will be let go or moved to another position.

Lee and Lehner are both still saying they want to stay with the Isles...

Isles go a bit off the beaten path and take Holmstrom with 23rd pic. Everyone on Twitter is saying he looks like Draco Malfoy.

Looks like Lehner and Lee are both talking to other teams. Can the Isles really let their Captain walk via UFA 2 years in a row? Seems pretty damning.
I thought Barzal being at the draft instead of Lee was a bad sign, but then realized Barzal is from Vancouver, so that made perfect sense. But, will he be at next year's draft regardless of location?
Lee has more goals than any other Isle over the last 4 years, and yes, that was valid while Tavares was still on the team as well. Can you give up the perennial team leader in goals when you're struggling to score?

Lehner- can you let a Vezina nominee walk? Ug.
