Hey I resent that. I've made some very nice drawings on the inside of my cave with charcoal recently.

In the world of Game of Thrones (i.e. A Song of Ice and Fire), any bastard children born in the north to noble houses are saddled with the surname "Snow."

It just seemed the perfect time for that reference -- and I'm kind of surprised it hasn't become a meme in NHL circles, to be honest.

By the way, I agree with Fogghorn that a Niederreiter-for-Schnieder swap would have been less impressive than what they eventually got, although I suppose Nino is still very young and could have made a contribution during the next "upcycle", but there'd be so much happening before then (namely free agency) that it's not all that worth it, even if he were to pan out to be a bigger scorer than he has been so far.

And that's the other thing -- even apart from the question of timing, acquiring a pure prospect via a high first-rounder is much more saleable to fans/ownership because you have that "potential" card to play that diminishes with every passing year after a prospect makes the pros; call it the "HFBoards effect". Horvat could eventually bust out entirely (although so far so good, as Fogg notes) but it's a lot easier to say "we traded a star goalie for a guy who could score 800 goals one day for all we know!") than a guy who already has a bit of a track record, unless that track record is very good.

That said, I also agree with Av that Snow was foolish for not sweetening the pot here.

I normally hate Clutterbuck, but I just so LOVE to see Niklas Kronwall get a taste of his own medicine.

Clutterbuck hasn't been all he was supposed to be. I thought he & Martin would make life really rough for opponents. Simply put, they haven't. Martin seems to be more interested in trying to score & Clutterbuck, I don't know what's up with him. He plays with an edge, but it just doesn't seem to be as much as I remember seeing from him. Seems like instead of his gritty attitude rubbing off on the soft Isles, they're making him soft.
