Wonderful news.

? You don't like the idea of them playing in Brooklyn? It's the off center scoreboard, isn't it?

Ehhhhhhhh...it just doesn't feel right not having them in Nassau. But since my wife has family in Brooklyn we at least for a short while have a built-in excuse to take in some hockey.

Then quit complaining! Lawn Guylandiz are doing enough of that. I love the threats of never even watching them on TV again...

So long as they don't pull any of the rumored stupid shit like going w/all black uniforms I'm fine with this, even though it's clear their rink sucks for hockey.

:haha: They may very well have black 3rd uniforms in Brooklyn, following the Nets lead. Ideas floating around the internet:

Starting next year it'll be possible to take the subway to Isles games. Here are tips from a bona fide NYer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIqqmtp ... e=youtu.be

Ed Mangano is the county executive who tried (obviously not hard enough) to keep the Isles in the Coliseum. The responses to his tweet about a redeveloped coliseum are childish and predictable, but still amusing: https://twitter.com/edmangano/status/557957287508074497

Hey, the team's good and suddenly Brooklyn doesn't seem like much of a lifeboat anymore.

This has been kicked around from the beginning. It's possible, but who knows? Supposedly the Brooklyn lease is "iron clad", but then Ratner (who owns Barclays) got the deal to renovate & run the Coliseum. Would he move the team back after the renovations? In America the answer is simple- if it means more money then it's a resounding YES. If not, then no. Current Isles fans say they won't go to Brooklyn for games, some even say they won't watch on TV because the team is abandoning them. The team did all they could to stay, and only moved like 23 miles or something like that. They could have gone to KC, Quebec, Seattle... They went down the road. One frustrating thing is that Wang was asked when Barclays was being built if he'd consider moving there, and he told them no, so they designed the building without hockey in mind. Whoopsie! It's not going to be great for hockey, but it's better than the team moving. Nothing really changes for me. It's still about 90 minutes & $15 in tolls from me. Parking will be more expensive and harder to come by. I don't think there's an easy way to take public transportation from up here in the sticks. Oh well! Again, it's far better than any of those cities 1000+ miles away. I don't really give a crap which NY arena they play in, as long as they're winning. They might move back, they might not. It's not happening this year, so screw it. I'm enjoying this year. Mostly.

Looks like the Isles won't be the final act at Nassau this year.

New twist to the Coliseum renovation: They're supposed to have an AHL team signed to a 15 year lease before construction is to begin. Quite a few AHL teams have moved out west and Bridgeport, the obvious choice, has a lease through 2021 and have expressed very little interest in leaving Bridgeport. Which team has a lease ending next year in an ancient building? Hartford Wolfpack- the Rangers affiliate. I have been pretty happy about the move in general, as I see it as a step forward and a better chance for today's teams to make their own history instead of always playing in the home of the Dynasty... But to see the Rangers affiliate move in there? That would be fucked up. The main reason for wanting the Sound Tigers in there was to keep the existing fan base interested in future Islanders players, watching them grow up in the minors. If they go watch future Rangers? Who knows if their future rooting interests will go.

I don't know how the agreements work but the Wolfpack could move there, become the Isles affiliate, and then NYR affiliate with someone else.

Yeah, just because it'd be Hartford moving doesn't mean the Isles can't take control of them while ditching Bridgeport and it's wacky Sound.

Well the Sound is the Long Island Sound, the body of water between Long Island & the northern shore of CT, including Bridgeport.

I'm not 100% sure if the Isles sale includes the Sound Tigers, but Wang has owned them for quite a while now. So it may not be as easy as switching affiliates. The Isles owning the Sound Tigers has helped easier transitions for players coming up as they play the same systems. Thompson was Bridgeport's head coach, then an Isles assistant, and now Bridgeport head coach again, just to give an idea of how they shuffle employees back & forth, not just players.

Ahh, ok. That would complicate things.

Good PR move: http://islanderspointblank.com/islander ... more-52130

The Isles will shell out $5.1 million to upgrade an LI public rink, and will practice there. Good way to keep fans slightly happier.
Not sure what they'll do with Iceworks, which they own.

Explanation of the Isles' business agreement with their new landlords. This could be yet another shit show. Or it could be brilliant.
