Hey, the team's good and suddenly Brooklyn doesn't seem like much of a lifeboat anymore.
https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/goodby ... 32641.htmlThis has been kicked around from the beginning. It's possible, but who knows? Supposedly the Brooklyn lease is "iron clad", but then Ratner (who owns Barclays) got the deal to renovate & run the Coliseum. Would he move the team back after the renovations? In America the answer is simple- if it means more money then it's a resounding YES. If not, then no. Current Isles fans say they won't go to Brooklyn for games, some even say they won't watch on TV because the team is abandoning them. The team did all they could to stay, and only moved like 23 miles or something like that. They could have gone to KC, Quebec, Seattle... They went down the road. One frustrating thing is that Wang was asked when Barclays was being built if he'd consider moving there, and he told them no, so they designed the building without hockey in mind. Whoopsie! It's not going to be great for hockey, but it's better than the team moving. Nothing really changes for me. It's still about 90 minutes & $15 in tolls from me. Parking will be more expensive and harder to come by. I don't think there's an easy way to take public transportation from up here in the sticks. Oh well! Again, it's far better than any of those cities 1000+ miles away. I don't really give a crap which NY arena they play in, as long as they're winning. They might move back, they might not. It's not happening this year, so screw it. I'm enjoying this year. Mostly.
