Who cares about when he leaves his feet? He's clearly exploding upwards to the head with his hit. I don't really get the 'leave your feet' argument in cases like this. Yes, sometimes the hit knocks you off balance but often its more about the angle you take to make the hit, and where you want to make the hit.

But he definitely was jumping, whether both feet were off the ground (one definitely was) at time of contact or not.

Three games!? That's it!?!? For a guy who once used another guy's helmet (now his teammate, yeesh) as a weapon!? Fucking ridiculous.

Nice to know you're not even the least bit serious about getting rid of head shots NHL.

It was just an Islander who got taken out. Remember, Hollweg never got anything for his concussion inducing hit from behind on Simon. Talbot never got anything for his concussion inducing hit from behind on Comeau. Eric Godard got 1 game for leaving the bench to join a fight & the team didn't get the "mandatory" fine, nor coach suspension.... The Islanders get no respect from the league. Shanahan is a former Devil & Ranger. I'm shocked Fistric got anything.

That was about 50% serious.

I just can't believe they can sit there and say the head wasn't targeted. As sask says, he's exploding upwards to deliver the hit. What the fuck do you THINK he's targeting, Shanahan!?

Knew we had a Nino thread in here somewhere.

A few things:
Nino finished the season with ONE point- the goal on December 3, which was shortly followed by the concussion-hit by Fistric. I guess he was afraid the kid would go on a tear....

I had hopes he'd play well for the Swiss at the WC, and find his game. No points in 6 games, and sprained his ankle to miss the 7th game. Awesome.

He was born 9/8/92, so hopefully they send him to Bridgeport for a LOT of ice time.

NYI motto: We get to draft so high so often, it doesn't matter if we ruin a few top-tier picks!

Pretty much. His junior club lost Game 7 of the WHL finals this year. Could have used him, or whatever they got for him in trade.

Yep.

In Bridgeport he had 3 G, 1 A in 6 games, and was a +5. He was a -29 on the Isles in 55 games. Do the kid a favor & send him to the minors!

And Ryan Strome- keep your ass in juniors.

Nino with 2g, 2a in 2 games for Bridgeport. :toot:

Hopefully he doesn't become the 3rd name on the Jeff Hamilton/Jeff Tambellini Award, given to the best AHL player/most invisible NHL player in the Isles organization.

Hey Chris with about a minute to go in a 3-1 game with the Russian goalie pulled Strome was the center of choice on the ice for Canada and then won three face offs in a row in his own end. He really is rounding into a complete player this year which is actually surprising to me as I kinda when drafted saw him as one dimensional future.

Nice! I haven't paid much attention to the World Juniors since the games are on all kinds of weird times, and I can only see them on the NHL network. Pains me to tune into the NHL network & give them any boost in viewership.

Who knows if he'll ever play for the Isles though? They may not settle this stupid-greed issue.

And as for Nino- he's got 30 points in 30 games to lead the 2nd place Sound Tigers. But apparently left the last game hurt. No idea how serious it is.

Despite having a point/game average through almost half the season in the AHL, Isles aren't even inviting Nino to camp. Told him he's in Bridgeport for the year to be the team's star & gain confidence. Maybe they'll call him up down the road, since there's sure to be a ton of groin injuries as Jay points out.

Nice to see Garth pretty much admit they rushed Nino to the big show. I'm hoping they don't do the same with Strome.

Well, lots of people are saying Strome is ready, especially with the extra half year in junior. Shrug.

If he's ready, great...I just don't want to see another situation where Garth reportedly promised Nino a roster spot and for whatever reason felt beholden to honor that promise. It was just a clumsily handled situation all around.

On an unrelated side note, I hope justice is served and Mark Fistric gets his head mashed into the boards this season.

I agree with all that, especially the last sentence. :D

And Hounsy, you stay out of this!

Isles claim Keith Aucoin off waivers from the Leafs. He should bring the Isles some much-needed size in the lineup.

Hey they need to fill out the line up with someone when Strome is sent back to the Dogs.

Debatable logic to keeping young-ins up: shorter season means they're less likely to hit the rookie wall.
