The hardest shot Witt has ever blocked. Walking across the street to get his morning java, Witt gets hit by a truck. He gets up, shrugs it off, goes to practice and plays in the game.

I love this headline:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=509092

Report: Witt OK after collision

Sounds like a Chuck Norris saying. "Cars don't hit Brendan Witt, they collide with him".

He used to hit like a truck. Great that he can take a big hit these days. I guess.

Unfortunately the waiver wire just smacked him a lot harder than that truck did.

Has he been really bad or something? Unless he's been terrible the Sharks should take a chance IMO.

He's a slow guy who unfortunately has gotten only slower over the years, a real liability in today's NHL. In any event it looks like the Sharks are going in a different direction and snagging Niclas Wallin.

From what I'm reading Jack Hillen and the "other" Andy MacDonald do what Witt does for a lower price, so they're giving him the boot. Unfortunately Witt has one more year at $3 million after this one so I'd be shocked if he even gets claimed on re-entry waivers. Say hello to Bridgeport Brendan.

I don't know about Hillen & MacDonald doing Witt's job. They don't hit like he did/does (when he connects). They've called up Matt Martin- HE hits like the Witt of old. And Hillen is out for a while with an OveCHIN surgery. Took a slap shot to the jaw from Ovechkin.

Witt was benched for a few games. He's had some leg issues this year, and is slow to begin with. I thought this was his last year on the contract, so I was surprised nobody picked him up on the waiver wire. Still seems strange to waive a guy who wears an A. I guess it shows Snow is all about business. Damn shame they're so far out of a playoff spot. :s

I saw that and was like "What is Matt Martin doing getting called up to the Isles? Dude is playing in my brother's mens league and hasn't played in the NHL in over 10 years
