I hear Wang is a huge Redman/Method Man fan.

 I've been waiting for "anyone who would buy the Isles must be smoking..." jokes, but that was a much better version. Respect, sir.

Supposedly Wild minority owner is looking to bail on the Wild & buy in with Ledecky & Malkin.
http://www.lighthousehockey.com/2014/9/ ... ott-malkin
It could be a negotiating ploy to help his Wild situation. Who knows? Nothing would surprise me at this point.

The Fisherman jersey wasn't originally under Wang's ownership, but he's in charge while it's being brought back for a 1 time pre-game skate, with the jerseys to be auctioned off. :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18: :chris18:

I wish he went further, but that was pretty damn good to have on live TV. Thanks Uncle Bob.

It looks like LaFontaine & Wang made up a while ago. #16 to be honored at the Coliseum on March 24th.

There certainly have been worse Isles owners than Wang: http://islanderspointblank.com/islander ... for-fraud/

Well, it's been a long while since the Isles have had bad press, so I suppose they were due...

Well that certainly explains all the guys who came back from injuries too early. Looking at you DiPietro...

He certainly shouldn't be allowed anywhere NEAR Grabovski.

Nobody should be allowed near Grabovski. He should have a 10' diameter safety orange light projected down on him from the Barclays ceiling.

If the article said how long this clown had been their team doctor I don't recall it. But I remember Dennis Vaske coming back from concussions too early, SEVERAL times. That was in the late 90s.

In the last 10 years or so I blamed the trainers for several years with the Isles ranking among the league leaders in man-games lost to injury. Maybe the doctor had some more to do with it. This guy is more likely to have been involved with that than with Vaske's issues. It's amazing how teams will get to know everything possible about a kid they are thinking of drafting or trading for, but apparently don't do any research on the staff who will be responsible for their well-being. Or is that just the Isles?

Wang has bought the formerly town-owned Twin Rinks in Eisenhower Park on LI. Many think he plans to have the team use it as their training camp facility, as a way of keeping some of the LI "fans" who refuse to go to Brooklyn, somewhat happy with the team. The rinks are currently in a horrible state, and in desperate need of a major renovation. Wang to the rescue. He may not know how to run a team (10 & 15 year player contracts), but he loves LI & hockey.

He's paying $8 million, cash up front. There was a bid for $9 million, but with an installment plan. As usual, cash wins, even when it's $1 million less.

Like many folks, I confused the news about the rink purchase today with another twin rink facility Wang wanted to buy. This one is not a dump. It is right across the street from the Nassau Coliseum, and will not simply be used for training camps, but will host the Isles offices and will be their new practice facility. This is a pretty brilliant move, since there were lots of complaints about the Isles taking the team & all its employees to Brooklyn. Now many of them won't have to go there at all, or just on game days.

Supposedly it's a 2 year old, $52 million facility, and Wang got it for $8 million. They are already saying they'll have lots of open practices & post-practice autograph sessions for LI-based fans. This is the rink that the NY Riveters of the NWHL were supposed to play in, but it was said to be closing. The Riveters, like the Isles, moved to Brooklyn for arena purposes.
