Undefeated after three games, 16 goals for.

Swedish rookie Jesper Bratt has 6 points in 3 games
Will Butcher has 5 assists
Schneider has a 948 SPCT

Feeling much better about that one Avs loss after seeing them take it to some other teams so handily.

I honestly thought Johansson was a complementary scoring winger with some playmaking ability, but dude is quite amazing at creating offense. Oh, and he apparently wants his name pronounced like Scarlett's.

I really thought that D-corps was gonna stink up the place but they don't look bad in the slightest. Don't know if the forward corps is just doing that much to make up for the lack of depth on the back end or if Severson and Co. are just better than we all thought.

Raise your hand if you not only thought the Devils would be the surprise front-runner in the league to start, but both Nico Hischer and Taylor Hall would be overshadowed by a 19-year-old 6th round pick from 2016?

This might become a Will Butcher HYPE thread before too long.

Y'all gonna regret not signing Will Butcher:

That's 100% on Patrick Roy. :doom:

Devils still atop the Metro standings at 11-4-2 and tonight they'll welcome back Travis Zajac. They need defensive depth, but for now the speedy forward corps is getting it done.

I keep waiting for the bottom to drop out on them, and it's just not happening. Good for them. Bad for the rest of the Metro.

They're definitely this year's "fluke" team, their underlying numbers are still garbage. But that's not necessarily a bad thing so long as you don't let it derail the rebuild. The Avs have unfortunately done that twice now.

Tell that to the 2013-14 Avs. In fact, tell that to the 2013-14 Avs and then have them tell that to the 2016-17 Avs and see how that goes.

Time travel... Whoa. Heavy assignment.

The Devils have come back to Earth, now only one point up on the surging Panthros for the final wild card spot in the East.

They still exceeded expectations, but I can imagine missing out on the playoffs would be disappointing after their fast start.

What's disconcerting is that this is roughly the second time now that Cory Schneider's play has imploded. Hopefully it's just injury-related, but even then, there's note for concern.

Dude's 32, maybe they just wasted his best years? If Rinne can bounce back at 35, Cory can do it too, but I'm guessing he'll need to work to stay relevant.

Gah, he's already that old!? Time flies...

NJ already did the "fire the goalie coach" thing, not much else they can do.

I feel bad for Taylor Hall, that dude almost more than anyone deserves to be in the playoffs.

Seriously. Hall has done it all. Okay, he hasn't. But "Hall has been a huge help" didn't rhyme. And for some reason, that's paramount at the moment.
Can't say I'm upset to see the Devils plummet to Earth. A friend predicted they'd make the playoffs and I laughed at him. Later on I apologized when they'd been in first for a while and he was a little smug. So I hope they miss by a point. (I'd use the evil smiley there, but it looks too much like a devil, and that would be bad karma in this forum. Or something like that.)

That horribly irresponsible rumormongering by Georges Laraque makes me root for the Devils (can't believe I'm actually typing that) even more.

This SCF, I want to see another vindication matchup like there was a couple years ago when Jumbo Joe faced off against Phil the Thrill. I wanna see the Preds and Devils square off, at least one player will then stick it to the doubters completely.

Devils are in! More Taylor Hall this season!

Nico Hischier had a remarkable rookie year: he's already a no. 1 centre with elite-level potential. 20 goals and 52 points.
