Well, apparently first step is to not honour anyone for their season:

You know, including the guy that could easily be a Vezina Finalist.

Even Lou is bored by this team.

Lou's saving all the cash he can to throw at Babcock. That means no splurging on chrome paint for those meaningless year-end trophies.

Not that this is a good move, but the only 2 who deserved anything would be Schneider & Jagr, and it would be pretty awkward giving Jagr an award after trading him.

Well, one is an unsung hero, so you'd hope someone can fit that 'hey you, you were alright but not that alright' category.

No idea where to put this. Scott Stevens holds the NJ single season assist record with 60. Even knowing that he put up plenty of points in his career(908), that still seems incredibly weird. After that season(93-94; 18-60-78), he never again put up more than 31 points.

The other defenseman to hold their franchise single season assist records? Orr(BOS - 102), Housley(Winnipeg/Phoenix/Arizona - 79) and Leetch(NYR - 80).

The first major post-Lou move? Buy out Dainius Zubrus.

I'm sure the Habs contingent on these boards have fond memories of him.

The Debbils signed Adam Larsson to a 6-year deal with $25M and someone on twitter commented that it was a 6-year, 2-way deal. I had a laugh.

Terms are actually 6 years, 2-way deal, with a no movement clause. ;)

Sixth overall pick Zacha signs his ELC.

Wouldn't be surprised if he makes the team out of camp. Already 6'3, 210.

Avs were quite bullish on him prior to the draft. I can't help but wonder if they had taken him that they were going to fully commit to keeping MacKinnon on the wing. With Rantanen in the fold now, that might change.

Cammalleri and Smith-Pelly bought out. What's the point? Are they going to spend big on free agents?

Rollie Melanson leaves the Canucks organization to re-unite with Cory Schneider as the new goaltending coach of the New Jersey Devils. Schneider coming off a poor season. This is a great move for the Devils. Rollie is an amazing coach - he creates magic with Cory.

Travis Zajac out 4-6 months after pectoral surgery.

Worst team in the league? Without Zajac and with Stafford they could ice this lineup on opening night:

Hall-Henrique-Palmieri
Johansson-Hischier-Hayes (PTO)
Wood-Zacha-Stafford
Blandisi-Boyle-Lappin

Mueller-Severson
Greene-Lovejoy
Moore-Prout

Schneider
Kinkaid

I could see Santini cracking the opening night lineup on D.

Not only Santini, but the Devs sign Hobey Baker winner Will Butcher. Have to imagine he'll get a shot to stick right away.

Moore and Prout are lousy, so there's room on the blueline.

It's his best shot for sure, not a whole lot above (or even below) him on the depth chart.

Really curious to see how Hischier does this season. Maybe doesn't have the high-end dominating skill of a Matthews/McDavid, but he's going to play top minutes right away and has looked pretty slick in the preseason.

Drafted him this weekend in my local league 128th over all. Kinda hoping for a 45-50 point season out of him after his strong preseason and suspected opportunity to produce.
