I'm going to be in Music City from Nov. 11-17. I have the option of seeing the newly offensive Preds play the Oilers or the Jets.

Guys on my hockey team absolutely love Nashville. Not really country music boys, either.

I am. I definitely plan on Honky Tonking. I'm also on the lookout for Montreal/Quebec musicians who are trying to make it in Nashville.

I'm staying at Vanderbilt. Not cheap, but it's walkable to Music Row.

Time permitting, I might drive up to Kentucky to taste some bourbon.
I've been to Memphis, but I didn't have time to take the whole Graceland tour, so I might do that now.

Three hours from my hotel to the Wild Turkey factory. Nice.

You are a country music boy? I must not be paying close enough attention to your music recommendations and twitter feed.

Ha! Should've read this before asking my question in the music thread.

I thought you were asking because of this thread, Sask.

Anyways, I'm by no means a country music expert. It's something that's still very foreign to my ears, so I take it in with a bit of naivete. There is a country station from Ontario I used to listen to in the car. Otherwise in Montreal I frequent bluegrass night in NDG, and I was an early champion of a Montreal Dixie Chicks-esque type group that imploded.

I skimmed over the details of this new country station in Montreal a few months back. I don't know much about it. Probably won't have much reach. Brad Paisley is coming next week, but he's the only club/arena level country star playing Montreal in 2014, and it'll likely be full of upstate New Yorkers and Vermonters. There's no country scene here to speak of. I get all my country recommendations from Spotify. Montreal is pretty behind on everything, though - we don't even have a hip hop station yet.

French people in Montreal are too insecure to like it, but I suspect it's popular in rural areas.

If you run into Hayden Panettiere get a pic w/her, preferably with her treating you like she treats the Stanley Cup.

Yeah, I suspect that if Lady Antebellum and Lee Brice did a tour and stopped in Montreal, you'd have had to cover it at some point and I've never seen that.

Side note: Funny how little some forums here get posted in. I mean, Belak's death is still on Page 1 of this forum, that was over 3 years ago.

I walked into legendary Honkytonk Tootsie's last night and who did I see? Rogers hockey dudes Elliotte Friedman, Greg Millen and I think Gord Stellick.

Elliotte and I chatted briefly about Nashville as an underrated hockey market.

Awesome.

Nashville's building is has been absolutely rocking anytime they've been in the playoffs.

The arena is smack dab in the middle of the honky tonks. After the games, the bars are filled with beautiful blonde southern girls in Pekka Rinne jerseys.

Wow, putting an arena in the heart of a metropolitan area instead of some outlying suburb helps attendance and fanbase building. Imagine that!

I get that Nashville has done a better job building their team than most franchises, but still...
