Well I wont be a naysayer here so....I just hope this series is competitive. Puncher's chance I guess. Go Habs!

Friedman noted in his latest 31 Thoughts that the Bolts' one big weakness is the Habs' biggest strength. Scroll down to #15.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/31 ... legations/

To summarize, the Bolts were 1st in HDxGA last year, the year they won it all. Virtually every team that was at or near the top of this particular category advanced (Lumbus was 3rd, but they of course met up against the Bolts in the first round). But this year, the team that led the league in this category (Dallas) didn't even make the playoffs, and Tampa tumbled all the way down to 18th. But Montreal was 2nd. The Bolts should be the favorites, but no way in hell am I betting against the Habs.

Also, the best power play will meet up against the best penalty kill.

I'll take the Habs to make surprisingly short work of Tampa. That defence is beat up and ready to crumble. Habs haven't taken the same physicality to get here as Tampa. Even Vegas was surprisingly tame.

Not sure what to make of this series yet. Don't really get advanced stats very well so I'll stick to the fun "ghostly links" to '93.

That year Montreal also arrived into the finals without a star francophone forward, who was also acquired by trading a pretty good defenseman.

Habs in 6. Why not lol

That Palat goal with the “assist” by Chiarot pretty much summed it up. It’s better to be lucky than good, but when you’re both, look out.

Oh well, the Habs have had games like this against Toronto and Vegas, now it’s time to see if they’ll bounce back now like they did then.

Wow that is one good team.

They need to figure out how to get Danault out there with Point more often - or Suzuki has to find a phone booth, eat a slice of pizza, and find his inner Danault. It wouldn't hurt if they find a way to gum up those cross passes.

Home ice will help with the first - but hopefully they'll find a way tomorrow. I'm chalking this game up to 1st game jitters on the kids.

We got Priced in the second period...

I'm oddly optimistic. With the last line change, and how they played in the second, I can see Montreal winning the home games. Hopefully creating some momentum in the process.

Same! Habs outplayed them and met a brick wall. With Danault on Point like white on rice, Suzuki is free to get back to offence.

Logic at its finest.....3500 people inside spaced.......30,000 outside packed A to B. I suppose that way at least someone can fall back on well...we told you no.

I'm pretty shocked. The way health officials were talking initially it sounded like they thought 10K would be fine, if not more.

I don't know how it went down, but the mayor and Geoff Molson are feuding over who pays for outdoor installations (among other things) and Montreal's mayor is nothing if not vindictive. Not sure she had a say here, but the decision feels like an abrupt reversal.

Ugh......Its too bad I was looking for some competitive hockey but that was in past rounds apparently.....I guess the only real story line here is can the Habs avoid the sweep... :jerkbag:

Still good to see a Canadian team in the Cup final I guess.
