Needed a few looks before reaching the decision to perform surgery on his tendon. Only played 26 games this season, although it's believed he hurt his foot blocking a shot in the first game.

He'll turning 33 this summer with a foot injury they had trouble diagnosing. Everyone was crying Forsberg on local radio yesterday.

Guaranteed Mirtle is not a fan of his publication pumping out a fluff piece like this.

https://theathletic.com/278075/2018/03/ ... d-defined/

Quote:
There are few players around the NHL that have an aura about them anymore. For the few who do, it is generally because of their offensive exploits, the things we can watch them do on the ice with our own eyes that make us marvel at their skill, their gifts. Sidney Crosby has an aura. Connor McDavid already has one as well. But so does Weber.

Except Weber’s aura is difficult to appreciate from the outside because much of it stems from things we can’t easily see on the ice, or things we can’t see at all off the ice.

But it’s there. And it’s unmistakable.

This is why the Habs are bad. The belief that they're missing intangibles and not talent.

Fallin' for Dahlin'.

The best thing about the Habs right now is that when your building a team, you start with the goaltender.

They don't need a centre. They're looking for a unicorn that can skate!

Seriously though, the Habs have about a million picks this draft and if they don't end up with lottery pick, Veleno and/or Groulx I'd be disappointed.

Kotkaniemi
Veleno
Poehling
Groulx

Those guys up the middle in 3 years would be sweet.

The more prospect-savvy Avs posters on HF are all about Veleno and Kotkaniemi.

Veleno's from my backyard so I know he's good. Lacking big game ability but he's such a smart player, I feel like he'll figure out the NHL game quickly. Ducharme is doing wonders for his career.

Kotkaniemi is a young Finn succeeding in their pro league. Habs love that. Button compared him to Kopitar a little. I feel like after the lottery guys he could go top 10 if someone likes him enough.

On one hand helps the tank both on the ice and off with an excuse. On the other you could be watching an asset rot on the vine to use for the rebuild.

That sucks though. Hope he heals quickly.

Weber hurt his foot/ankle again. Out 4-6 weeks even though there's only about 7 weeks left. Good chance he's done for the season.

Earlier today Kipper suggested his career was in jeopardy. I'll choose to believe nothing until he plays or doesn't play again.

Once again ye olde RECAPTURE PENALTY talk surrounds the Nashville Predators.

In the end, no one really won this trade.

No penalty if he's LTIR, which might happen sooner or later

That's what I figure will happen, and this is one case where I'm okay with everyone involved circumventing the cap. At least it's not some bullshit skin condition suddenly showing up when he turns 40. Besides, the Preds didn't even draft the contract they'd be killed under if Weber were to officially retire.

Did any of you follow the media shitstorm that happened yesterday regarding Weber's injury? Let me sum it up, you decide what the truth is:

1. Prior to yesterday, Habs say nothing about Weber, just they're waiting and they'll let us know, he's out the week
2. Dreger and Bobby Mac report Weber's in Green Bay meeting the guy who did his previous foot surgery, season in jeopardy
3. Kypreos goes a step further and says the team is concerned about Weber's future beyond this season
4. *crickets*
5. Habs PR guy Paul Wilson, who's more famous for not communicating, comes out of hiding to say don't believe the hype, they still don't know the prognosis
6. *more crickets*
7. Habs announce Weber's foot is a-ok, he's actually out 4-6 weeks with a sprained ankle, which is basically the season but maybe he makes the playoffs (hahahaha). Long-term, he's fine.
8. Why did it take so long to deliver the news? According to the Habs, they were waiting for his ankle swelling to go down
9. Most Habs media people (if we're keeping receipts: Wilde, Engels, Gagnon) are satisfied with the Habs' message, believe it 100%, start shitting on Kypreos
10. Kypreos doubles down, stands by his report

What we do know for sure:

Weber is out at least 4-6, basically the regular season
Habs didn't say anything until only the reports came out from Dreger, Mac and Kyp

What we don't know:

Why did he go to Green Bay over a sprained ankle?
If it is the ankle, is it related to the foot in any way?
Is the 4-6 a real timeline, or just a sneaky way to rephrase gone for the season?
If the TSN guys and Kyp hadn't said anything, would the Habs have revealed anything?
What's the actual prognosis for the future?

Oooh I love conspiracy speculation! I am going to go with 4-6 is doublespeak for out for the season. Habs avoid coming out saying its all over and everyone looks somewhat decent....besides Kypreos. Head Office looks for a way to quietly release he's done during the offseason.
