Didn't get a centreman, but interesting none the less.

I can't be mad at a ballsy deal like this. No way of knowing if Sergachev comes back to McDonough/Chelios them.

True, however the Habs need scoring. This move could work, but at least in my opinion, this move is at least not as stupid as the Subban trade, but time will tell.

Listening to TSN 690. Chris Nilan loves the deal, so there you go.

Drouin has elite speed and puck handling. He plays the way I want the Habs to play.

The poor man's Drouin signed to a one-way: https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/news/the- ... -289942676

Hudon's gotta play.

I would love to see him and Chuck on a line.

I wouldn't be heartbroken if the Habs decide to walk from Radulov and his contract demands and lock up Galchenyuk to the same 6 year/33M deal they just gave Drouin.

I wouldn't shed a tear if they shipped out Max or Gallagher

Bold move by the Habs to address their scoring woes, but the future D corps is now looking a little thin. Who's going to step in after Shea and Emelin?

Is Galchenyuk on the move?

Damn. Good trade. And within the division!

The upside and downside to this trade is obvious:

Habs win if Drouin becomes an offensive cog for the length of his new deal and Sergachev takes time to develop.

Bolts win if Sergachev becomes a stud D and Drouin is offensively stifled in Montreal or can't handle the pressure.

Of course, there's a good chance both players turn out fine and everyone's reasonably happy. It's also possible the Habs dealt away a no. 1 defenceman for a second straight offseason.

At the presser yesterday Drouin said he could play centre if needed. Did it a bit in TB and his last year of junior.

I wonder what it would be like if the Habs stacked Drouin and Galchenyuk at C. I feel like they'd be tough to contain.

Ugh, Beaulieu dumped for a 3rd to Buffalo. More speed removed from the back end.

Habs protected list: https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/late ... habs-hudon

Who will the Black Knights take?

If they're going for potential, either Hudon or De La Rose.

If they're going for defensive depth, then it's Davidson.

If they want a Latin dude who could maybe help with media, they might grab Montoya.

If they want a pending UFA they can flip at the deadline, it's Plekanec or Emelin.

If they want to make a splash in the UFA market and someone to play alongside Shipachev, they might negotiate with Radulov.

If they want a checking centre, hey, maybe Mitchell.

I'm going to guess they need to take guys that add salary to reach the floor as well so that could lead to some surprises with some one like a Plekanec maybe.

I heard an interview with McPhee on Montreal sports talk radio today and he said they've done a bunch of mocks and had no trouble reaching the floor.

Several of the talking heads were indicating that McPhee wanted to build draft picks and that Plecks would be worth at least a second, perhaps even a first at the deadline.

My money is on Plex.

Best case scenario for the Habs: Vegas takes Emelin, no side deal. Bergevin just got a 4.1M birthday gift.
