Article en francais about the difficulties Latendresse is still facing years after retiring. Says he suffered six concussions in his last three seasons.

Some issues:

He can't even play hockey for fun anymore. He hit his head playing Wii and afterwards had memory problems for a month.

He hit his head getting into his car and needed 3 days of sleeping 12 hours per day to recover.

He has anxiety, stress, fatigue problems. His personality has changed: He loses patience easily.

He was on antidepressants for 1 1/2 year.

Wishes he retired earlier.

The idea of him coming back this year, let alone this series, is insane. I know I've bagged on him, but in all seriousness, the guy needs to realize his future quality of life is far more important than a Cup. I hope he heals well & comes back fully healthy.

Reading about guys having issues later in life is incredibly sad. The tradeoff for their career salaries doesn't seem worth it when you hear stories like this.

Latendresse's case is also a caution against bringing up 18-year-olds if they're not physically ready.

He was a big kid, but also used to playing recklessly in a boys' league. He used to get roasted all the time for not going hard to the net.

That's terrible to hear. I actually kinda liked him as a player.
