Domi article in the Athletic where he diplomatically says he'll do what he's asked, but in a perfect world wants an extension and wants to play centre.

When he was good in 2018-19, he really stirred the drink. Talent, speed, attitude and a pain to play against. In 2019-20, he was distracted an ineffective. Pretty clear he's better at centre and better with Drouin, who didn't play much this season.

So what do you do, double down on proven players Drouin and Domi, or give way to the young guys and deal pending RFA Domi for help elsewhere? It's a tough call: I think Suzuki will be a better centre than Domi, and Danault will be re-signed. Will Kotkaniemi and Poehling take over eventually? You'd think so, but you don't necessarily want to go with them as your only option.

Meh...not a big Max fan. The talent is obvious, but his motivation seems to come and go.

It took a once-in-a-century pandemic and a hastily cobbled together 24 team playoff, but the Habs have reached the postseason.

Really looking forward to seeing Kovalchuk suit up for them...oh wait...crap.

First I hear of this.

Eric, have you heard anything about this?

Molson shot it down today. Says he'll stay Prez and Bergevin doesn't need a babysitter.

He also said a third jersey is coming (!)

Maybe I'm old school with the Habs, but I don't want a third jersey. The tradition has always kept their uni's the same. I don't mind the old jerseys to wear as alternate, even though some of them are a little much.

The Habs have resisted the lure of a hokey 3rd jersey all this time, opting as you said for the classic threads.

I can't imagine they'll do something garish, the blowback would be intense.

Molson is getting a ton of blowback for his 90 minute press conference, which he called solely to dispel rumours about stepping down as Prez, and proceeded to say nothing of substance about Coronavirus, BLM, laying off a ton of employees and begging the feds for a handout.

He's an empty shell of a person. No surprise this organization has tanked under his stewardship.

Really? How does a guy talk for an hour and a half about nothing?

Oh. Good point.

Also, I should know better. About 90% of meetings I've been a part of are pretty much pointless.

Really? How does a guy talk for an hour and a half about nothing?

Example:

Question: “What steps would you like to see the Canadiens undertake in terms of trying to support racial inequality and the movements like Black Lives Matter, given the type of influence the Canadiens have in the sports world and in society at large, especially Quebec society?”

Answer: “Yeah, I think it’s a great question and, as you saw, last week we issued a statement and we also had some real heartfelt statements from our players such as Shea Weber and Brendan Gallagher. The whole world appears to be behind this. For us, we will continue to support it, support the movement. In everything we do we will be – we have been, and we will always be – very welcoming of all fans and all spectators to any of our events. And certainly, we’ll follow this as it goes along and be very supportive of it.”

Question: “Do you get the sense of kind of a societal revolution within the league, especially when you consider Akim Aliu, his column that he put out that addressed the issue of racism in hockey, do you see that there are steps being made that will probably improve the state of race relations within the NHL, given that the players we mentioned have spoken out on that issue?”

Answer: “I sure do believe we will, and I hope we will. We’ve got a task force – the NHL has a task force – of people that are dedicated to this and want to increase the respect for diversity in the NHL and across all teams. So for sure, and I’m entirely behind it.”

I don't know what the odds are the Habs can get the suddenly up-for-grabs 1st overall pick, but for an even measly shot at Lafreniere they ought to tank against the Pens. If it ever happens, of course.

Now they'll beat the Pens, just so they don't have the chance at him. Then get smoked in the next round.

I don't believe that will really happen. Just trying to get into the spirit of this whole thread. I like it. I feel at home.

Yes, I'm having visions of 2010. If nothing changes, the Habs have about a 10 percent shot at number one, but more likely they'll draft ninth. Hey, either way it's a good player to add to their formidable prospect pool. Hoping for a winger to play alongside Suzuki or Kotkaniemi.

My scenario above is what most fans feel will happen to the Isles. They'll beat the Panthers, then get killed by the Bruins or Lightning. So yeah, I feel at home in here to an extent. Other than my French...

Price and Halak in nets.
The midgets Gomez, Gionta and Cammalleri FLYING.
Not one, but two Kostitsyns.
Rookie PK Subban.
Marc-Andre Bergeron on the first pairing in the playoffs for some reason.
The oldest ass defence ever with Hamrlik, Spacek and Gill.
Maxim Lapierre Tha Pest.

The more time elapses, the more I realize this team was what it's all about: capital P Personalities coming together and getting it done.

If these playoffs happen, the Habs will have to lean on their kids. They jettisoned Kovalchuk, Scandella and CJ favourites Nate Thompson and Nick Cousins at the deadline.

Kotkaniemi is healthy and en route.
