Whoa - I think Nashville got the better of the deal here. PK is 3 years younger, a right hand shooting defenseman with more foot speed than Weber. And based on last year's playoff performance, Weber is not the player he used to be. Did PK do something to piss off Bergevin? |

Hooooo boy...well it's not like you're getting a scrub in PK's place, but stats seem to indicate Weber is on the decline. I feel like Bergevin is opting for "veteran leadership" here, which is almost always a big mistake. Pretty stunning trade. And I'm pretty goddamn mad that Bergevin plunked Pernell Karl right into our division. He always seems to make at least a couple highlight plays against the Avs' slow D every time he's played 'em. |

Well, the onus is on Bergevin now to win the Cup. If he fails he's gonna be lumped right in there with Houle and Tremblay. He might even be more despised than those two ever were. |

I feel like if the Avs did something like this I too would just put my fandom on hold at the very least. If they trade away Matt Duchene that'll be my dealbreaker, and he's nowhere near as good as P.K. Subban. I told Cali via Twitter message that our Habs contingent was completely decimated within the scope of an hour.

I don't know if it's racially-charged or not. If P.K. showed as much personality in public as, say, Wayne Simmonds, I doubt there'd be much of a problem. I think someone on Twitter put it best--Subban's possible "character issue" is that he dared to show any in the first place. Hockey culture is kinda stupid in that regard. If you're anything but a meat-headed dullard anywhere but the locker room you're a "distraction." However, the race issue simply can't be ignored, not entirely. Still, Subban was VERY active in the community...how Molson could have let this happen is beyond me. I'd have fired Bergevin the very moment he suggested it. Hell, I'd have fired Bergevin the very moment he decided Therrien was worth keeping. |

I'm still at a loss. I've disliked the Habs since I was 4 or 5 when my father told me "I could cheer for any team but the Canadiens." Respected their players sure, but never liked any of them, until PK. He's absolutely everything I would want in a player: aggressive, exciting, plays even better in the play offs, great interview and fantastic in the community. Great hockey player, great human being. Probably my favorite player in the league right now. This trade is Jim Benning kind of dumb. |

If there was some kind of rift between Pacioretty and Subban, no doubt whatsoever who goes in my mind if it comes down to that. And it's not like they couldn't be forced to work it out. It's obvious Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews aren't the best of friends. |
