Damn.... Bloom in Heaven my man....

Guy Lafleur was the reason I became a hockey fan. I remember asking my Dad who that guy with the hair was after he scored a goal, and he and Uncle started chanting and clapping "Guy Guy Guy"

Years later I was at the NYR game at the Forum where Guy scored 2 goals. It was electric - never have and never will hear a crowd cheer like that for an opposing team goal. The love for Guy was more than palpable and I thank my Dad for paying $240 (back then) for my and my buddy's seat off a scalper - 3 rows from the top at the home side end of the rink. It was great. A guy from the Maritimes was up there and was a huge Mike McPhee fan. Wish I had the ticket stub still....but a strip club was giving 2 for 1 drinks with the stub lol

RIP to a Legend. He played in the 90's and it doesn't seem as far off as it is now :x :(

Le Démon Blond, an all time nickname for an all-time great.

The Habs glory days from 1942 to 1985 are linked between The Rocket, Gros Bill and The Flower. Guy's the only one I've ever seen play, but it was amazing to have all three alive and involved in hockey when I was growing up. When Giants truly walked the halls.

Rough year for hockey legends.

Damn, I always feel like Lafleur was the first real finesse player in the league to dominate. Before you had rough-and-tumble skill guys who powered their way around the ice, but he was flash personified. Wish I could've seen him play.

Don't know how much of the legend really applies, but I'm told the Left Wing Lock was devised specifically to stop The Flower. That seems like as fitting a tribute as anything.

He was talent personified. Larry Robinson said in an interview that Lafleur would be the first guy to screw up a new drill in practice. There wasn't much hockey sense, but it simply didn't matter.

I remember Guy so well as he was my first favorite player on the Habs when I was young watching them. I played right wing as a kid and back then every forward on the team at the beginning of the year wanted number 10, as was always my first choice.

To this day I still want to wear the number 10, as he truly played the game his way, with so much creativity. In practice, it was rumoured that when they draw up plays, it was dig the puck out and pass it to Lafleur.

70 is way to young in this day and age.

R.I.P. Guy Lafleur. Truly one of the all-time greats. I feel honoured I was able to see his entire career.

and he did it all, while choking back a couple smokes during every intermission. I hated the Habs but loved to watch him play.

Guy will lie in state at the Bell Centre May 1-2 for fans who want to pay final respects. He'll also receive a state funeral the following day.

Amazing display at the Bell Centre tonight..a 10 minute standing O for the Flower and cleared the boards of all ads with just his name, date, number and sig.

Montreal does it right at all times! Makes me miss seeing games and drinking Molson Export/Laurentide up there!

Classy!

Lafleur was one of the reasons I started watching and playing street hockey... Even chose to shoot right because he and Gordie Howe did...
