Carr looks like he's locked up a spot on the Habs. All he does is crash the net and get points: 5 goals and 8 points in 18 NHL games.

Bud Holloway is PPG in St. John's: 37-11-24-35. Andrighetto is PPG moving back and forth.

Big Mac has 28 pts in 40 games, not bad for a rookie. Hudon has 28 in 38, so on pace to match last year.

Bournival is healthy-ish again, has one goal in 18 games. Scherbak is back after a long injury. Ellis and Dietz have been St. John's go-to D.

Elsewhere, Daniel Pribyl (who the Habs don't have right to anymore) is tearing up the Czech Elite League. Reway is PPG in Switzerland, but just suffered a concussion.

While we're at it:

Lehkonen and Nygren are putting up good offensive numbers in Sweden. Fucale has shown flashes in his first pro season. (Work in progress but has the athleticism.)

Crisp is a bust. Thrower is a bust. Bozon is playing, which is a miracle all things considered.

Not sure why DLR isn't sticking in the pros: he's way more useful than Smith-Pelly.

Down on the farm, Nikita Scherbak is getting reps at centre. First thought: They envision him as the centre they don't think Galchenyuk is. That's bad.

Whether or not that's the case, it's actually reassuring to me that they think Nikita can play C. It's been a lost season for him because of injuries, but he's starting to show glimpses.

McCarron has arrived. One assist and five shots in 10 mins of ice-time against the Leafs. The big man will be up with the club for the rest of the season.

McCarron, De La Rose, Andrighetto, Matteau and Danault have a golden opportunity to move up the food chain. On defence, Pateryn and Ellis have a shot.

Michael McCarron scored his first NHL goal over the weekend. A tip-in close to the net.

Habs sign 22-year-old NCAA UFA D Tom Parisi. Spent last four years at Providence College. Left-hand shot, around 5'11, 195. (Although listed at 6'0 elsewhere.)

Was the captain at his school. Considered a strong skater, not much of an offensive contributor.

The line of Hudon-McCarron-Scherbak had a crazy good game over the weekend. I like the potential.

Habs sign SEL playoff leading scorer Artturi Lehkonen to a three-year entry level deal.

Habs sign Slovak F Martin Reway to a three-year entry level contract.

This one is surprising not because he's untalented, but because he's raw and seemingly unwilling to play in the AHL when he can have his pick of teams in Europe. I guess the Habs coaxed him to try out a year over on this side. I assume he won't make the Habs, but Lehkonen and Reway are interesting new pieces.

Reway has a virus and will not attended training camp after all. Hope he's ok.

As far as I'm concerned, Lehkonen is ready.

McCarron is pretty much ready but it wouldn't hurt to start him in St. John's.

Scherbak needs a full season in the AHL under his belt, but he could be ready sooner rather than later.

Lehkonen and Scherbak solid scoring second liners like Tampa has? McCarron - is he a grinder or a scorer?

Can he keep up?

Lehkonen and McCarron are ready. Looking good.

Scherbak scored in his first NHL game.

Andrighetto and Carr haven't seized their lineup spots yet.

Where are the kids at, heading into 2017-18?

Permanently up with the big club: Lehkonen
Fighting for a roster spot: McCarron, Hudon, De La Rose, Lernout
Starting in Laval: Juulsen, Scherbak, Bourque, Carr, Reway, Lindgren

Junior: Mete, Bitten
Europe: Ikonen, Vejdemo
College: Poehling, Evans

Not exactly a murderers row, but I think Big Mac, Hudon and De La Rose are all NHL-calibre, and Lernout is no slouch in his own end. Scherbak is back on track after losing time to injury. Lindgren is biding his time. Juulsen might move up quickly.

Evans is finishing up a successful career at Notre Dame and could find his way to the pros towards the end of the season.

Lol only getting to this 5 months late. He's playing for Bratislava in the K. Didn't make the Olympic team, doesn't seem all the way back. Don't think we'll ever see him in NA ever again.

Elsewhere, it's been a decent year for Habs prospects.

Scherbak is up and looks great. No goals in 6 games but looks like he'll never see Laval again.
Daniel Carr has 10 points in 17 NHL games but they don't play him.
De La Rose has been meh in 32 games. Still a limbo guy.
Hudon has 20 points so far but has his fair share of rough nights. Good enough to stick.
Mete is back after the juniors and holding his own. Might mess him up long-term but he'll stick.
Jerabek looks like a solid depth D. Pending UFA though so maybe they'll deal him.

Having rough seasons in Laval: McCarron, Lernout, Juulsen (mostly injuries), Lindgren

McCarron is getting close to bustville. They tried turning him into a grinder like Tinordi and he's not good at it. I guess the Habs thought he'd never get the foot speed to be anything else.

Not a terrible year in the end for the Habs prospects.

Hudon made the team and will be back next season. Strong rookie campaign with 30 points.

Scherbak and De La Rose had their moments as top-6 guys in a depleted lineup. Future 2RW and 3C, potentially, but maybe not.

I thought Daniel Carr looked fine whenever he played, but CJ just didn't seem to like him. I guess they have a lot of top-9 types with limited upside.

On defence, Juulsen and Mete were thrown into the fire and flashed potential. Juulsen propped up Alzner towards the end of the season, but of course the Habs will think Karl is a good vet partner for the young blueliner, which is dumb. Mete got hurt near the end and didn't get to show his skills.

In junior, Fleury and Brook look like real prospects.

At college, Evans, Poehling and Primeau were major keys to their respective schools. Evans needs to sign or he can become a UFA, which would be disastrous for the C-deprived team. Evans might need Laval time but they might not be able to afford to give it to him depending on who they get this offseason. Poehling will stay another year at St Cloud, but he looks close to ready. Could be a future 2nd line centre.
