The London Knight kid who helped sink Bergy seems to be progressing well too.

Showing top tier talent from what I've read.

Oh yeah, forgot about him. Unintentional, I swear!

He was suspended half of the season and then missed time with a high-ankle sprain, but has otherwise looked good in limited duty. More offence than I originally thought, but seems like a project in his own end.

Brett Stapley also added himself to the conversation with a strong senior year at U Denver. Smallish smart forward type.

Probably more of an AHL guy, but again, Habs are a good spot to be if you're looking for a chance to break in.

Forgot to mention Guhle. I'd be shocked if he's not a regular on the Habs by this time next year. I think he'll be a top 4 defenceman by December.

I feel he's got the basics down, so he can learn about offence on the job.

Something interesting about the two prospects they acquired, Emil Heineman and Ty Smilanic, besides being 2020 draft picks: very similar players who skate well, shoot well and the rest is a work in progress.

Hughes and Gorton officially have a type.

Habs sign Northeastern captain Jordan Harris to a two year deal.

He'll join the defence next week in all likelihood.

Habs sign draft pick Joshua Roy. At 16 was considered a budding superstar and Q teams were fighting over the chance to get him. Then he struggled mightily and almost didn't get drafted. Now at 18 he's one of the top scorers in the Q. Player development is rarely linear.

Habs sign F Emil Heineman, acquired from Calgary in the Toffoli deal. Entry-level deal kicks in 22-23, but he'll report to Laval on a PTO for their playoff run right now. Good experience for him.

Lots of rookies will get their shot this season: Harris, Slafkovsky, Guhle, Xhekaj from the onset, with Norlinder, Barron, Ylonen, Harvey-Pinard, Leskinen, and maybe even Heineman getting their time. Kovacevic technically a rookie too.

Don't love the idea of Slaf on the 4th line but In MSL I Trust. He doesn't strike me as a David Quinn-type.

Also, yikes, Savard really sucks now, doesn't he?

I think the plan was to give Slaf a cup of coffee with Armia out. He's going back to Laval no matter what.

And Savard is being forced to play top pairing minutes even though he's clearly not a top guy, so he's doing alright given the impossible situation he's in. I think he's a good value at 3.5M per.

Lane Hutson looks like a find. Leads Hockey East in scoring his freshman year, he's the first defenseman to ever do it.

This management is not shy about bringing guys up. Could see Hutson and Farrell here sooner rather than later.

Bottom five within Montreal's reach. They'll also have one in the mid-10s.

This draft is an embarrassment of riches. Habs might walk away with Michkov-Reinbacher, Smith-Wood, Dvorsky-Sale, Benson-Cristall, who knows. So many possibilities.

Jayden Struble and Emil Heineman are joining the Laval Rocket for their playoff push. Sean Farrell is close to his NCAA career ending.

Struble and Heineman are a good test for the new regime because they have big league size, skating and certain tools, but they're borderline prospects. Struble can skate and hit on the back end but has no puck moving skill. Heineman is a headstrong winger who might not score enough to make it happen.

Sean Farrell's season at Harvard is over and Buccigross/Friedman say a signing is imminent.

He's undersized and guys his age with those results in NCAA are not a sure thing, but he's considered an NHL calibre offensive creator, so we'll see. Habs will burn an ELC year and play him 7-8 games now. If he shows anything he may never see Laval. There's no one at LW blocking him.

Habs sign draft pick and Ohio State goalie Jakub Dobes. He seems good.

Geoff Molson talked about the backlash to drafting Mailloux in the local paper. The gist: they feel they've been trying real hard to make amends since then. Have they?

At this point the Logan defenders are getting creepy in justifying his behaviour because he's good at hockey, but I'm not gonna throw the kid in jail either, so it's just something that'll hang over him his whole career.

Logan is an interesting mix of offence and physicality from the back end but can't play defence for shit. The next Tony D?

According to reports Logan Mailloux has been cleared to play by the league. I guess he'll probably go to Laval in the fall.
