Mete didn't play at all in the third. I think he's done as a Hab, either at the deadline or the offseason.

Not sure why they don't get him. Excellent puck mover and rush joiner, but he's small and gets beat one on one. You take the good with the bad, but the Habs just see the downside. He'll be good elsewhere.

I'm not sure Bergevin fully appreciates offensive defensemen

Because he wasn't one, I suppose.

Absolute stinker against the Jets tonight.

Habs get Jon Merrill for a 5th and Hayden Verbeek.

Perfectly fine bottom pairing guy. They want someone a bit more reliable with Romanov, and Merrill is that. Cost was nothing, although Verbeek is enough of a gamer that I could see him making it as a 4th liner.

Bergy ain't done.

Habs lose Mete to the Sens on waivers. He's going to wear #98!

Heading into the expansion draft, the Habs seem primed to lose a defenceman.

NMC: Petry

Can be exposed: Weber, Chiarot, Edmundson, Kulak, Fleury

UFA: Merrill

Habs get D Erik Gustafsson from Philly for less than nothing: 7th rounder and Phil pays 50%.

Outside of his one good season in CHI he hasn't done much, but he's coming in to be a 7th guy who can help on the PP, so not a big deal.

I get the feeling that Bergy wants a defense that plays tough in front of the goalie and leaves the offense up to the forwards. I'm also guessing Hall didn't want to come to Montreal.

why would the Habs have had any interest in Deangelo? I know they want depth, but really? this guy??

I don't think we'll ever get the full story on the Habs interest. I'm sure Bergy called, but did it go further than that?

Bergy likes his defence big. Doesn't care for puck movers. He likes Merrill types: defensive-first but can skate pretty well.

Habs will play Merrill with Romanov. Hopefully it lets Romy fly.

Kotkaniemi-Anderson was an amazing duo last game. Hope they stay together.

Yeesh, bad one against the desperate Flames.

Trying to look big picture here, because the day to day Habs fluctuate too much. Suzuki and Kotkaniemi have been good, not great and remain the future of the team. Unless they get an upset in the playoffs I'd be shocked of Ducharme got the full-time coaching gig.

Are the Habs going to be able to hold onto their playoff spot here? I mean, I know Gallagher is out but geesh!

I'd say so. They have 3 games in hand on Calgary, and while Vancouver may have like 100 games in hand, they're going to be playing back to backs quite often to make all those games up, and the Habs have a good lead over them.

That said, I get the stress. Fucking sports are brutal on fans.

Was referring more to Calgary. Vancouver doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of coming close to a playoff race. Habs win a nail biter last night against Calgary without giving any points back so that could seal their fate.

Chiarot back and paired alongside Weber, who's been coughing up the puck routinely.

Price back as well and expected to backup Saturday.

6 points ahead with 3 games in hand should be a lock at this point in the season.

That was one of the worst games I've ever seen in my life. Nothing going for the Habs.

Price out with a concussion. Is he ever going to be fully healthy ever again?

I was just thinking the same thing. He really hasn't been fully healthy for a few years now, nor as dominant.

That is a big contract to carry going on and he isn't getting any younger at 33.

Today's press conference was very much about Price and Weber's combined 18M hit and what they bring in 2021.

I don't think this team can win with all that money devoted to them. Bergevin will absolutely go down with that ship.
