Victor Mete has a very real chance of making the team. Not only because of his sweet passes, but because the new Markov-less defence already looks like it's in trouble.

Streit, Morrow and Davidson are not full-time NHLers. Full stop.

Schlemko is already hurt.

Last night watching Davidson and Benn on a line together really made my head hurt.

Big. Slow. Useless.

Mete has great vision, wheels and his hockey IQ is really higher than both of those lugs combined.

Bubble team. Don't like the speed of the blueline a lot of money tied up in the top 2. A lot rides on Carey's health. 91 points.

Habs are 0-6 in the preseason and everyone is already freaking out about the defence. Juulsen is hurt. Davidson/Streit/Jerabek/Morrow have not looked good.

If Schlemko isn't ready to go they'll enter the season with this top-6:

Mete-Weber
Alzner-Petry
Davidson-Benn

Yikes.

Thought the Habs would have been motivated last night. Pre-season still sure, but at some point you should want a win if anything to stop doubt from sneaking in.

Terrible.

Habs lineup more or less set with Martinsen and Froese hitting waivers this morning.

Pacioretty-Drouin-Lehkonen
Galchenyuk-Danault-Gallagher
Byron-Plekanec-Hemsky
Hudon-Mitchell-Shaw
De La Rose

Mete-Weber
Alzner-Petry
Davidson-Benn
Streit
Morrow

Pricoya

IR: Schlemko (probably)

Forward corps has some intriguing pieces (yay DLR and Hudon finally making it!), but man that D corps won't last three months. They need Schlemko to come back in a hurry and for Mete to somehow be the real deal at 19.

Davidson and Benn would be a second pairing in the AHL

So painfully slow are they.

Roster set. The forwards are young and the defence is old, save for a 19-year-old set to play alongside Weber.

Bold predictions time:

1. The Habs have 8M in cap room they're itching to spend. They thought Radulov and/or Markov was coming back. They'll have to spend that money if they want to contend. They need D right now and will likely need a centre at some point
2. Drouin will be a hit, ~80 pts. PPG if the powerplay gets going
3. Schlemko will replace Mete by the time his 9 game audition is up, but Mete will stay as a bottom pairing guy, play 60 games
4. Plekanec and Shaw will bounce back
5. Hudon will replace Byron's offence, who I assume will be bad/hurt
6. Jerabek will be up by November
7. Not long for the Habs: Mitchell, Davidson, Streit, Hemsky
8. Galchenyuk? Gone as soon as they get the right offer

Think Galchenyuk for Duchene is still possible? Rumor has always been that Sakic wanted D. If the Habs are also looking for D that's obviously not going to work.

It must not be because it would've happened by now. I think Galchynuk will be the better player going forward, but some NHL execs treat Team Canada guys like precious jewels so who knows.

No goals and defence looks slow in the earlygoing.

Drouin is beginning to remind me of Kessel in Toronto

Lots of hype. Lots of potentials.

An excellent complementary player expected to do too much.

Trading PK?

Big mistake.

Not bringing Markov back?

Big mistake.

This team has 3 shitty d pairings and no scoring to speak of.

Fuck this team.

Fuck him.

He looks better than the two scrubs playing in the bottom pair.

On at least one goal last night he looked like a boy amongst men.

Fuck Mete.

Fuck the habs.

Galchenyuk reportedly out with "flu-like symptoms" the day after he gets booted to the 4th line.

Man, things are goin' south in Montreal aren't they?

Needless to say, it's full-blown panic mode in Montreal right now. I'm not even going to start watching until December, just for my own sanity.
