But he was the number 1 pick for the KHL the season before that. You'd think someone would say to themselves hey, perhaps the Russians know more about the players in their own backyard then we do and they took him #1 for a reason? Lets take a 3rd round flyer on the guy. |

I think North American teams are only now starting to understand how KHL guys translate into NHL players. Kaprizov and Panarin are examples of guys the NHL probably figured were too small, too underdeveloped. Romanov is another who immediately came into the league as a top-6 defenceman. The Habs insisted he was ready and people didn't believe them. |

Avs certainly did a number on Kaprizov last week over the course of two games. What that tells me is that he's still a franchise player, obviously, but he needs a center. Eriksson Ek is a good two-way player but I don't think that's enough. Don't know if they intend Matthew Boldy to be a wing or center (I'm guessing the former) but him on the same line as Dolla Dolla Bill Kirill will lead to some amazing things. I wonder if maybe they can try him as a center sandwiched in between Kaprizov and Zuccarello. |

Not sure he's the guy, but Minny should be players for Nuge should he reach free agency. |

Kaprizov's agents planted that they have a 10M+ deal in Russia, which sounds hard to believe but it's the only negotiation tool he has. He'll get his 4-5 years and glide into free agency. Minny hoped to lock him up for 7-8 years, but no dice. |

Not sure I'd give Panarin money to a guy with less than 60 games of NHL experience but I imagine they know they have the Wylde over a barrel now. Minny has to try and go for it THIS YEAR, because that dead cap hit from the double buyouts will severely hamper them the next few years after that. |
