Thomas Vanek reportedly involved in a money laundering scheme. He endorsed one of his paychecks from the Islanders over to a crook to cover a gambling debt.

We've always assumed he's a bit lazy and selfish, but maybe he's just dumb?

Vanek is doing a wonderful job living up to my narrative of him being a giant douche.

Well, there's no erasing the trade the Isles made, but it sure looks like they dodged a bullet here. Or, I guess, just got grazed.

No sympathy for the Wylde--their owner is as two-faced and shifty as they come.

Vanek reportedly owes $10 million in gambling debts and was involved in an extortion plot.

Vanek's lawyer had the best line.

Quote:
"He wasn't very good," Parrinello said of Vanek's gambling performance.

That wasn't Vanek's lawyer, it was the lawyer of the guy who admitted to extorting him. Vanek's agent denies it.

Quote:
After the plea, Ruff's attorney, Matthew Parrinello, said Vanek had owed upward of $10 million.

"He wasn't very good," Parrinello said of Vanek's gambling performance.

Quote:
Thomas Vanek's agent Steve Bartlett on report Vanek owed $10 million in gambling losses: "That's absolute fantasy... complete fabrication."

Who is it a fantasy for? I hope owing $10 mil isn't a fantasy for Vanek :?

Good fucking riddance.
Now I have to wonder if he was betting on hockey- against his own teams. It would explain the games he completely fucking vanishes, or, Vaneks.

Looks like betting (pun intended) on Vanek may cost Fletcher his job.

Vanek has spent much of the Wild's playoff push watching in the pressbox.

18 goals from the 32-year-old doesn't sound so terrible, but it their beat guy seems to think he's a strong buyout candidate this offseason.

Inconsistent or streaky can describe most offensive talents. He's either incredible or totally fucking useless, and it's infuriating to see him when he's the latter. I'm so glad the Isles didn't keep him.

I think Erik nailed it--dude's just plain stupid. Got exactly what he wanted--money, ideal location, and the chance to play for a contending squad--and promptly tanked it.

Or maybe he's a genius. "Got exactly what he wanted--money, ideal location, and the chance to play for a contending squad--and promptly tanked it."
If they win the Cup, his name will be on it! (They won't, but you get my point)
