Gormley actually was one of the few players to post a positive CF%, but he had a couple bad shifts the other night that led to goals (of course the guy on the other side who was absolutely responsible for the Jax' GWG is still in...fucking Holden) so he's back in the press box. Reto Berra in nets. Semyon Varlamov has been doing his best impression of Brian Elliott so far this season with outrageously bad rebound control, so I'm not surprised he's out again. Roy said this switch was the plan all along. I only partially believe him. This is the first game in a pretty long stretch away from Pepsi Center. |

Ya, you gotta have defencemen who can make a clean zone exit pass or the legs to skate out. The Habs have Beaulieu-Gilbert as a third pairing. |

Avs currently have going into tonight: Beauchemin - Johnson Guenin - Barrie Zadorov - Holden So basically that's only one really good skater, maybe three okay skaters, and two guys who simply don't have the wheels to be in the NHL at all. Holden might be the worst non-goon skater the Avs have ever had. And I'm pretty sure the Sheriff would whip his ass in a race. Possibly even now. Also, they improved their ability to handle the puck overall with Beauchemin and Zadorov basically ousting Stuart, leaving only one d-man in the lineup who treats the puck like a grenade. Unfortunately Holden has decent hands but forecheckers know he can't secure it worth shit, so they gun for him the minute it lands on his stick. Avs are finally realizing what a horrible, horrible mistake getting and then extending Brad Stuart was. That'll probably end with a buyout this offseason. That's either the 2nd or 3rd buyout of his career I believe. |
