Curious to see how Stralman does. If he still has legs, he's the stabilizing defensive force they need. Playing with Matheson will be mutually beneficial, I think.

Bobriesbrouck should help things as well.

Is Bobrovsky the difference between the Cats making the playoffs and missing them? Probably.

Yeah, their defense was no great shakes last season but it was goaltending that's let them down the last couple seasons. They will likely roll out one of the league's best power plays once again, and they ain't bad at all on the penalty kill either.

I suspect struggling long-term pieces Ekblad and Matheson will suddenly appear competent in their own end. Like magic!

Actually, the turnaround for Ekblad took place last season. He struggled badly to start that new extension, but he turned things around. I was quite shocked at his underlying numbers.

We'll see on Matheson. I think they may come to regret that one. And in any event, he ain't even the best defenseman in his own house! That honor would go to his new wife, gold medalist Emily Pfalzer. :eng101:

Man, watching Hubie and Barkov do their thing is truly marvelous to watch.

Too bad they don't have a goalie.

They went into the deadline needing defence and so far are walking away with future 3rd pairing Djuse and Priskie. But they've given up Trocheck.

This looks like a mix of Dale Tallon souring on a player after one bad season and ownership ordering payroll be slashed less than a year after giving Bobrovsky a megadeal that made them a cap team.

I'll say it again, it's just never, ever gonna work in Florida.
