Wow, it actually seems like a brilliant idea. This likely means no other team will even think about trying it.
I heard today the Blues did this two years ago... But they were careful to limit the number of seats to a very finite number and only those seats that no one wanted, or would have paid good money for when better seats were available, were the ones available for this Priceline sale.
In the Panthers' case,
every seat was made available - the objective was to maximize the number of season tickets sold so the Panthers could negotiate slightly better terms from their beer suppliers and other vendors... Their contract was up for negotiation...
