Scrivens sets a new NHL record with 59 shots saved for the shutout. Would never ever, ever have expected him of all people but considering how his last 2 years have gone well good on him.

Unreal. How frustrated must the Sharks have been?

Burns alone had eight.

It's like a pitcher throwing a 140 pitch perfect game - Scrivens will never recover. He'll be Halak, forever brittle from being fed too many pucks.

I'm an instant fan of any athlete who can use the word inauspicious correctly

Quote:
"I had an awful, awful warm-up, it was an inauspicious start to it," he added. "It's one of those things where you try not to look at the forest while you're in the trees. You try to focus on the process and give yourself a chance to make that save and when the puck drops again, you try to focus on the next one and don't try to get too far ahead of yourself."

BTW, I heard on NHL radio that Cam Ward might be on the block. Personally I think Rutherford would be nutso to stick with a Peters/Khudobin tandem in net, but it's not like the Canes have done a hell of a whole lot since winning the Cup behind Ward nearly a decade ago.

If he is indeed being shopped, I imagine the Oilers will be throwing everything they can short of Taylor Hall to get him.
