Oil lose 7-4 to the Yotes. Big free agent acquisition Mark Fayne played less than 14 minutes, for some reason.

Defensive specialist can sometimes fight to find ice time when the team is always chasing the score.

5 goals on 26 shots.
4 goals on 43 shots.
6 goals on 26 shots.
6 goals on 29 shots.

Oilers clearly haven't learned from the Leafs teams of the past two years. Give up more shots and you let in less goals.

In 5 minutes I'm hoping they continue blowing it against my beloved Canucks! :viking:

Looks like the Oilers have a mini-resurgence on their hands. I do find it laughable though that there's speculation on Draisaitl's status. What alternative do they have if they send him down, Arcobello?

They are not good enough to make the playoffs unless Scriven's is this years Seymon Varlamov. Don't rush the kid if he's not ready. Play for McDavid/Eichel

They're not bad enough for that, though. That's what happens when you add good depth behind the most recent top picks. The competition for the bottom 5 spots in the NHL is pretty damn fierce and Edmonton doesn't seem to really be in that conversation anymore.

It sounds like the Oilers are going to keep trying to find a centre via trade and use Draisaitl until then, even if it takes 39 games to do so. That'd burn a year of his ELC but keep the UFA date a bit later. They don't sound concerned about the 9 game deadline, more the 39 game one.

Looks like Hall is hurt again. Gonna have a hard time building around a guy who is injured as often as he is.

Someone on HF remarked that he is almost always seemingly unprepared to take a hit, ragdolls when he's struck instead of "tightening up" like most of us learned when we played. I really haven't seen that much of him to know, but he sure does seem to get absolutely rocked when he gets hit, and for a kid as big as he is, that shouldn't happen this often. This time around it looks like Tanev caught him with a hip check while he was crashing the net.

Sounds very Lindrosian. Playing like a bull is fine, but your survival instincts have to kick in when necessary.

Apparently Dallas's boys are finally starting to get it, but defensive miscues that end up in the back of the net due to bad goaltending are bringing them down.

They want to be able to ice the puck without the whistle and no-change!

Presser scheduled today at 11. Uh-oh...

EDIT: Never mind, false rumor.

Izzat where we're at now? False rumors of press conferences?

The Oilers got mercilessly booed on the way back to the dressing room after losing to the Hawks. At least Eberle was man enough to speak up and sympathize with the fans afterwards, unlike the supposed leaders in Toronto.

Oilers have fired Goaltending coach Freddie Chabot. Expectation is Dustin Schwartz will replace him.

Can't blame them on this one given the performance of both Scrivens and Fasth this year.

Saw someone on Twitter say: it literally looks like MacT's head is on a platter.

Remember this, from the end of 2013?

Trading Sam Gagner and rotating some goaltenders. Real bold.

If this team gets McDavid or Eichel, fuck right the hell off.
