The final game at Joe Louis Arena went down last night with a Wings win.

Quite the send-off. Farewell to the Joe.

Great piece here.

Happy to see Sheahan get his first of the season, as well as his second as the final NHL goal there.

Zetterberg, in his 1000th game, gets one as well.

One interesting thing that the piece I linked to above notes is how many players from the Michigan area played youth, College and then NHL hockey at the Joe. Hockey at every level.

Don't get me wrong. I had a lot of fun at Joe Louis Arena, saw a lot of great hockey, drank gallons of hooch, sat on the glass, enjoyed the luxury boxes and sat all through the old barn. I got boozed up in the Olympia Room and I really know that place inside out. That said, I still consider myself a child of Olympia Stadium. You never forget your 1st love I guess.
