Wings go down to OTT 2-0 in game 80.

Apparently Zetterberg was asked what it feels like with nothing left to play for and responded with a look and "you play for the Winged Wheel on your chest". Great response.

Apparently Riley Sheahan outdoes Bill Muckalt and becomes the record holder for most shots taken by an NHLer without a single goal.

Wings jump over Buffalo with 3 points in the final 2 games to finish 25th overall, missing the playoffs for the first time in 26 seasons.

Everyone relieved and happy to see Sheahan get his first(and second) of the season. As stolen from twitter, he scores his first two goals of the season for a 2-goal pace.

Justin Abdelkader had a whopping even strength goal total of 2 in 64 regular season games. That's right. 2. 1 more than Riley Sheahan. Less than Luke Glendening(3), Steve Ott(3) and Drew Miller(5).

30 years old, 6 more years at a cap hit of $4,250,000.

They beat the Isles 4-3 in OT. Mike Green nearly had his second hat trick of the season but it was called back due to goalie interference. Looking at hockey-reference, the only defenseman to be credited with multiple hat tricks in the same season since 87-88 is Wendel Clark(88-89,91-92 and 93-94) and we know that he wasn't playing defense. I wonder if Paul Coffey did it at least once before 87-88.

I read that and wondered when Wendel played D.

Coffey might have. Orr possibly?

Old friend. Looks like hockey-reference added older hat tricks to the site, but the season finder still only goes back to 87-88.

Appears that Coffey did have two in one season.

Orr had 4 in one season!

Comeback to tie the Hawks 4-4 and then lose in OT.

Big night for Larkin(2G-1A), AA(2G) and Mantha(4A, 3 primary)
