I thought that was not allowed in the CBA. Surely the PA will have something to say about that.

Yeah I thought it was outlawed but maybe there is an exception for cancelled games or some shit. Brutal deal for the Wings.

Mantha is awesome. 9 goals and 16 points in 22 games, and is on fire.

Vanek isn't fast at all. Crafty and smart but not a fast skater. He tried to get behind the D hanging out at the Leafs's blue line a few times on Sunday. Someone on the Leafs did it too, I think it was Carrick. It was a weird position for him to be in considering he's a D. Can't remember what the game situation was.

23. Detroit’s makeup date for the cancelled game in Carolina means three games in three nights from March 26-28. The other option was interrupting the NHL/NHLPA negotiated five-day break in late February. That was a no-go for the players.

Wings lose 2-0 to Anaheim and the next night beat the Kings 4-0. Nielsen, Vanek and Athanasiou scored 3 of the 4 goals. Ericsson ended the night -12(35% CF%) and +4.

Mantha with another goal and assist. He bodied the King who was taking an outlet pass off of the puck, tapped it back to Jensen, who moved it to Tatar who fed Mantha in the slot who wired it five-hole from behind the hash mark. This guy is so good.

Nice, 10 goals in 24 games for Mantha. Glad to see he's figured it out.

What are the thoughts on Blashill so far? He's certainly reluctant to let the kids run with it, but that's no different than every other coach in the NHL. I also take it his system is just a continuation of Babcock's.

Too enamoured with the traditional 4th line. Figures that grinders on scoring lines will somehow solve scoring issues. I wish he'd take AA, teach him the ropes on the PK and let him loose.

PP is shit right now, hurting that much more with Green out. D isn't very adept at moving the puck and he won't play young guys who can like Smith, Sproul and Oullet.

I'm still a mixed bag on his coaching. I see the limitations of the lineup, the D, and what he's been given to work with. But at the same time I think he could do more with what he has. But, what kind of rope does he have?

There are quite a few issues with this team and a lot of them are long-term problems.

Wings score their first road PP goal in 19 fucking games. Lose 5-2 to Dallas.

Wings take down the Pens 6-3.

What? Give this guy ice time? What a dumb fucking idea.

I knew the puck took one bounce when it hit the D, but looking now it took two. Also noticed that hard backcheck by Malkin...

Canadians don't have the day off, so I'll try to listen while working.

Galchenyuk and Shaw are back.

I'll be damned, the Red Wings beat Montreal and Carey Price, 1 - 0, on a Thomas Vanek goal. Rookie net-minder, Jared Coreau, notched his second NHL shutout. I only saw the 3rd period but the Red Wings looked pretty decent for the 1st time in a while. I still don't think this team is going to challenge for a playoff spot but seeing a better team effort is nice for a change.

Wings had the majority of the good chances in the game and managed to put one by Price with Vanek setting up shop in front of the net as he was doing all game long. Nice to see that they didn't collapse in the 3rd and get outshot.

Nah, they have to stand on their own regardless of who their linemates are.

Sheahan lack of points kind of mystifies me...same with Jurco. You watch them and you can see the skill. Sheahan's a decent passer with a good shot. Jurco's got speed, hands. Just...where are the points? It's not as though they're lazy or anything.

I haven't looked into Larkin's minutes, but it could be an adjustment to playing center.

Another mind popper, Detroit is down 3 - 0, then 4 - 1 at the end of the 1st period. They come back in the 2nd period to tie it up at 4 - 4 only to surrender another goal within a minute to Boston and trail 5 - 4 at the end of the 2nd period. With about three minutes left in the 3rd a Larkin pass to Nyquist ties the game at 5 - 5. They go through OT and Detroit wins the shootout 2 - 1 with Vanek and Nielsen scoring for Detroit to win 6 - 5. That was entertaining.

Man...I turned the game on and saw them get shelled for the first 3. But then "Well, sometimes these guys make a comeback" and sure enough...

That Vanek pass for AA's goal....man.
