Like Chris in the Isles forum, I'm going to just consolidate most games in a main thread.

Wings start the season with a 4-0 win over the Babcock-coached Leafs. Abdelkader with a hat trick, Zetterberg with 3 assists and Dylan Larkin with a goal and an assist in his debut.

Jimmy with the shutout. Some great stops. Great to see.

Oh boy. Mrazek steals one for the Wings. The Canes were up in shots 30-5 before Zetterberg scored a nice one set up by a zone entry, pull up and soft pass by Larkin. Pulkkinen got two and then Hank ragged the shit out of the puck down low, pulling everyone in and then feeding Abdelkader in the slot for a one-timer. 4-3 Wings.

Blashill pulled Larkin off of the first line and moved him to the middle with Tatar and Pulkkinen. Seemed to do the trick.

The forwards were way, way too low while the Wings were in the D zone. Anything out to the points and the Carolina D had all day to grab it and set it up.

The Red Wings had no business winning this game. But, I'll take it.

Franzen actually sat this one out for Jurco. Wings move to 3-0 on the season with a 3-1 win over the Lightning. Big 4-point divisional game, folks.

Abdelkader is doing everything this year. Screened the shit out of Bishop on Nyquist's beautiful snipe, and he was in there on the Zetterberg snipe as well. Zetterberg's goal was a nice pass into the slot by Larkin. Also had a really nice hit running over Skinner I think in the slot.

Larkin had a breakaway chance that looked like it had Bishop beat on the blocker side but went wide. Man can that kid fly!

Jimmy. Nice.

Wings D did a great job on pinching to block off the forwards on the breakout.

Green is fun to watch skate and handle the puck. He made a perfect diving poke check to stop a JT Brown breakaway.

This team is still down Datsyuk, Helm and DDK.

Blashill has really been balancing ice time across the lines.

Z-Larkin-Ab has really been driving the offence, so it'll be great to see the other lines start to pick it up. Zetterberg has been a monster so far.

Good early season win. The 2nd of 3 games this month against Carolina occurs Friday night. It's wierd that we will be finished with Carolina for the year on October 27. Then we have a Saturday night game in Montreal.

Franzen out and Glendening is stinging right now. Jurco draws in and Andersson will probably be in if Glendening can't go.

Hopefully the Wings play a much better game than the last one against Carolina  I'd love to see a breakout night from Sheahan, Tatar, Richards and Jurco. And Nyquist and Zetterberg and Larkin and Abdelkader and Green and Kronwall...

I'll probably be going back and forth between this game vs. Carolina tonight and the Jays game, if I have some time to watch.

Habs outshot Detroit 41-22. Back-to-back nights aren't always fair.

3 stinkers in a row with 1 win. They are coming out really flat and got absolutely clobbered in the 3rd against Montreal.

Uuugh. Another awful start against the Oil. PP sucks.

Game against Calgary tonight. Hopefully they get a better start and result.

OT loss against Calgary and OT win against Vancouver. This team can't put together a full 60 minutes. 1 or 2 awful periods and 2 or 1 good periods. Their possession numbers are pretty frigging bad. Won't help if Green is out.

Mrazek made the long pass to Nyquist for the OT winner on a nice delayed shot.

Looks like he might have been planning something, too. Love Mrazek's confidence. Before OT started:

Wings are kind of becoming a bubble team.

It's really the end of an era.

Better game in terms of shots, but the Wings still lose. The Wings are shit for zone entries(Datsyuk should help a ton with that but still), especially on the PP. And in the Dzone MOVE THE FUCKING WINGERS FURTHER UP TO THE MOTHERFUCKING POINTS. Fuck. How is this such a hard concept? The D can still make outlets, but the Wingers have a little more time to grab the puck and turn before it gets to the D. The D have less time and space to do anything if they do get the puck. You get more separation from the opposing forwards and you push the D back on their heels more when you grab the outlet pass. For fucks sake, 9 games of this stupid shit.

Mrazek coughed up the puck for the first goal. He had two teammates between him and the opposition forwards but both guys peeled off of their man to the opposite side. One guy should have stuck with the forward and the other peeled off for a passing lane.

Only Wings goal was a deflected Kindl shot. Chances around the net aren't getting buried.

Wings got absolutely jobbed on a valid interference call with 4 minutes left after Carolina got away with at least 3 or 4 blatant penalties in the 3rd period. More blatant than the call against the Wings.

The Wings are not skating or playing hard. They've gotten flat outworked for the last 6 games and only Zetterberg kicking their asses Saturday night between the 2nd and 3rd periods saved them from 6 straight defeats. Datsyuk's eventuasl return might help but these guys need to find that extra gear and use it. They are not even competitve.

A regulation win! Wings were pretty good in the shots department after going up 5-1 when score effects took over.

Zetterberg with 2 assists to give him his 500th assist and 800th point. Awesome. I'd love to see Z hit 1000 points. He's got the years on his deal to do it.

Love this goal by Tatar. Little pump fake, pull it in and snap it perfectly by a screened Anderson. Abdelkader doesn't have many points lately but he's been screening the shit out of tenders on goals.

There's also a beauty by Larkin that I'll put in the wood thread. For the page views and post count.
