Much ado about nothing those slow negotiations. Seemed like a perfect fit.

Jesus that's a lot. Dallas are poorly constructed IMO. Almost $20 million invested in 2 players and the rest is chicken feed.

They're dying in terms of depth but that's still some insane talent at the top. Keys are gonna be whether Nichushkin's NHL-caliber at this point or not and how good Miro Heiskanen will be in his rookie season. And hey, they got a really good backup in net to mitigate those inevitable Ben Bishop injuries.

Agree on Heiskanen but Khudobin? Suppose he's pretty good as a career backup, but dude's 32, not played a tonne of NHL and wouldn't imagine to be a solid option over long stretches.

I dunno, he was even being eyed as a starter not too long ago by Carolina (go figure), managed to suffer some major injuries that year and I guess that was that, but as far as their options went I think about the only one that may have been better would've been Carter Hutton (and they weren't gonna get him). He filled in quite well for Rask when Tuukka was suckking to start the year.

I'm not saying they haven't made some serious errors (they have, especially last offseason) but they either needed to do this or deal him and pull the plug. They have way too much invested to do that.

BTW, the way they announced this signing on Twitter was nothing short of awesome.

Awesome. Love the career earnings point total.

I'm of the belief that the best strategy is to sign your best guys and worry about the rest later. You can find depth, but you're not finding another Seguin or Benn.

That being said, this team is as slanted as they get.

Hanzal going on LTIR would help a bunch. Spezza and Methot off the books next season will allow them to throw some cash at Karlsson (likely) or Panarin/Bob (less likely).

Healthy goalies, full season of Chush, Janmark and Heiskanen? I could see them competing for a playoff spot.
