“Contracts have been extended on our behalf that are close to $50 million. I think that our group has been very fair. In fact, more than fair. And it’s nowhere near what they want,” Davidson said, his voice rising. “We’re trying to do the right thing for our organization. We’re trying to be very fair to a good young man in Ryan Johansen who’s got a bright future here. We’re trying to do the right thing. And all we’re getting is no, no, no, no.”

The Hard Luck Franchise wouldn't have it any other way.

So they're offering a 2 a 6 and 8 year contract. Convenient as he is UFA in four and to me that $6 million for two years seems like a bargain price for sure.

Kadri got $2.9. I'd say they're in a similar boat for what they'd accomplished at that point in their careers. A small adjustment up from $3m for inflation is really all that should be required.

Kadri is making $3.1m this year after $2.7m last year. So Johansen $3.1m then $3.5m?

My guess is that Johansen already had his eyes on UFA even before Davidson's public negotiations. So both sides are trying to negotiate completely different terms right now.
