Seth Jones out 4-6 weeks. The "Prove to Bob and Bread We're Contenders" season is off to a discouraging start.

Was it High Bank vodka, at least?

Panarin is probably not coming back. Bob's maybe starting his decline.

Go for it! To hell with the future!

Sorry, gotta sell. This team is not a contender. Sucks for Jarmo and the Jackets (and especially their ever-patient fans) but betting it all for what'll end up being yet another first-round exit would be something so foolish even Peter Chiarelli would laugh.

I think they can get out of the Metro. Worth it for a franchise that's never had a run.

Can hardly wait to see who overpays for Bob. My money's on Philly or NJ.

I can't see either Philly with Carter Hart or NJ with Mackenzie Blackwood and 3 more years of Cory Schneider at $6M per targeting Bob in the offseason or the deadline being so far out of it.

If Crawford finally goes LTIR I'd put Chicago in the Bob sweepstakes. Carolina always needs a goalie. St-Loo?

Yeah Carter has been surging of late and forgot about Schneider, although he can no longer play. Maybe Florida?

Keep in mind that Bobrovsky's numbers have not been great either.

Florida gambled on James Reimer and lost, I think they want to rid themselves of that contract before even thinking of going big on another netminder.

St. Louis...maybe. Depends on just how desperate they are and how much cap room they can free up after the season to re-sign him.

I think there's a very real possibility Bob goes back home to Russia. I don't think anyone is going to give him the contract he wants in the NHL.

Wow. To steal a quote from Patrick Roy, Jarmo's puttin' his balls on the table.

Man...hope it works out and they at the least get a deep playoff run with this bunch because if they don't...

Do Kekäläinen & Torts really think they can take a run at Tampa in the East? Suppose they do.

I think it's more they see themselves getting out of a weakened Metro. Pens and Caps are a bit hungover, and who believes in the Isles? The Jax have never even won a playoff round.

Matt Duchene chartered a private jet, flew to Ottawa, and collected his wife, his baby son, his dog...and Ryan Dzingel.

Hell of a price to pay for a one round playoff victory.

History may not look kindly on rolling the dice on Bread, Bob, Dzingel and Duchene. What could the team look like next year if everyone walks?

Foligno-PLD-Atkinson
Jenner-Wennberg-Anderson
Milano-Dubinsky-Bjorkstrand
Sedlak-Smith-Hännikäinen

Werenski-Jones
Murray-Savard
Harrington-Nuutivaara

Korpisalo

I don't know, that's not that bad. Dzingel is a Buckeye so I think there's a good chance he comes back, at least.

Some of the Players' Tribune stuff is pretty weak but the Seth Jones one is pretty good. I didn't know his brother has been up with the Oil.

The funny part is that when my two brothers and I were growing up, she didn’t know anything about hockey. But my dad was playing for the Nuggets, so we were in Colorado right when the Avalanche–Red Wings rivalry was so sick.

For me, hockey was everything from Day One. But most stories about me talk about how I loved the Avalanche, which isn’t exactly true. Don’t get me wrong, they had unbelievable players — Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk, Roy, Bourque. Just sick. Loaded. But the first time I saw the Wings and Nicklas Lidström play in person, that was it for me.

Lindström was my idol.

I loved everything about his game. He was so positionally sound that he didn’t even have to throw big body checks. He’d still control the game completely.

And then when we got close to the rink, she would kind of be hitting me, pumping me up.

Amy
Seth!!!!!!! They’re going to call the police on me!

Seth
But not actually for real. It was like … she’d do that thing moms do, where she’d poke me in the ribs, like, “You gonna bring it today? You ready?!” And I’m like … nine years old. It was hilarious. I wanted to be Lidström, she wanted me to be Pronger.
